I know that wen u take allergy shots... u gotta take them for about 2 yrs but wen do they start working???.... can u notice a dofference after a week or a month or do they automatically just start working after the two yr period?... Are thay guaranteed to work? or is there a chance that it'll only work 4 some people???

Allergy shots take different amounts of time to begin showing effectiveness, and it depends on your immune system. The idea behind them is to to teach your immune system to ignore certain triggers- what ever it is you are being treated for, the pollens, grasses, etc. The first few shots are giving such a low concentration of the allergens that it shouldn't trigger much of a response at all, and the concentration goes up gradually until there is one. You stay at that stage until the reaction stabilizes or quits, and then start building again. By the end of the injections, hopefully your immune system will have learned. Unfortunately they don't work for everyone, and nobody can tell you how long the effect will last- though enough people get enough relief that it's still worth a try. When you notice some relief in your symptoms depends on how weak a solution is required to trigger the reaction and how long it takes you to stabilize it. If you are allergic to grass, for instance, and start with a low concentration, you may find in the spring that you can walk in the park or live when the front lawn is mowed, but can't yet mow yourself. By the end of the two years, hopefully you will be able to mow the lawn yourself. Sorry, but nobody can offer any kind of guarentees, but try to think positive. It does help a lot of people, and will probably help you at least a little bit.

No guarantees! Shots work for some people but not everybody. If you do not see improvements in a year, then it is not working. Treatment is usually done for 3-5 years if they are helping.

They build tolerancy over time. I have had to take allergy shots, but I stopped about six months ago. I could notice the difference after about a year of the shots. Don't ever stop them, though, I suffer now because I haven't had them in a while!

I took allergy shots for nine years. It took two years for them to start working for me. They will know in advance if it is not working, because they will be unable to build up the dosage of your shots because of repeated reactions.
