Lying is a sin, but murder is also a sin. Not to mention I love my son, and would not want to see any harm come to him.
I don't think anyone can say with certainty what they would or wouldn't do in a given situation, because when push comes to shove the reality is often very different from our hypothetical response.
I have misled to protect my son from harm, and I am actually thinking if I told a bold-face lie... I know I chose my words carefully, because I didn't want to lie... But ultimately, I think God looks at the intentions of your heart.
If you are lying to protect an innocent child, then I believe it may be justified... God may disagree, though, but He knows I am doing my best to serve Him.

Absolutely. If my children or someone I dearly cared about was going to have some serious harm done to them and I could get them out of it by lying, you bet your buns I would! In a heart beat! I believe that is the one exception to the "Do Not Lie" rule.

If you can still be that faithful to Him, then I really doubt your children would die. He is the miracle worker afterall. But even if you do lie in a situation like that, remember our Lord is a forgiving One, then there's no way He would keep you from Heaven because of that! We're His kids! He gave his only son to save us. Remember that.

Not having been in that situation and I hope I never am, I think I would, and when I died I would accept the consequences. Ok, it is a sin, but Jesus said to his followers (note the followers bit), "Love one another as I have loved you".
I also think this is a stupid question.

What is more important? Your children, or never telling a lie?

I know God would forgive me for that. You know, I'm so sick of these questions where you try and stump the Christians. Just so you know,; God doesn't give us anything that He knows we can't handle.

without hesitation I can say that I would LIE, STEAL, even KILL to save my children, and any god that would damn me for that, can keep his heaven.
