Is it not wierd how B.E.T. promotes stereotypes but yet the show will hire shows like how negative it is to use the n word or hoe or b*tch. But then what other tv outlet except for mtv and vh1 do young viewers get these degrading and ingnorant terms and visuals from. And is it not ironic that B.E.T will have a show called hot getto mess or that other show politcally or socially incorrect or something like that. Is this not the work of the Devil? Does no one else agree with me. B.E.T doesnt even promote black artist. They show the same five videos and tv shows over and over. There are so many black artist out there that many do not know about. MTV 3 actually promotes and artist for one month. Nothing is original since its own by the same company that owns MTV now. Gosh does anyone else think that B.E.T. sucks hard!

BET has always been an awful network, even before Bob Johnson sold it to Viacom. It has never had any interesting programming and it has always promoted sterotypical images of African Americans, women in particular. Bob Johnson was only concerned about making money, not what the community needed or wanted to see, or for that matter, promoting black artists. The network is a disgrace and needs to be removed.

I'm Asian lol...So hopefully you still care for my opinion. I was raised on BET practically because one of the families I was raised by when I was little was black and whenever I came home I saw Big Tigga and AJ & Free. Now though..I've got to admit I don't watch it as much anymore. I watched Next Friday last night but I'm sick of seeing crappy new school rap. Cousin Jeff is cool but if they wanted to stop the N word and derogatory stuff about women like they seem to say on the specials then maybe they should have a Gospel hour everyday or stop showing stupid videos and show ones that are alright for little kids to see you know? It's just annoying..when 50 cent comes out with something you ALWAYS hear it on there but there are so many good rappers trying to save hip hop it isn't fair that they don't play them too..it's a bit..annoying...if only they had a new version of soul train or something.

I don't know what happened to BET. It was better back in the day when they took pride in the black community as opposed to now where they always want to show the 'ghetto' side of the house. Some of the shows are wack. Their reality shows are meaningless and BET After Dark.... yeah... uh... no! Hot Ghetto Mess should be coming off the air soon. I signed a petition on here to can that crap. You do know the reason is because it changed hands... it is no longer black owned and operated. A white man owns it now...

i totally agree, BET buys in to the ingrained concept of many Black men's desire to be thugs, and their self-loathing. Look, I'm not being racist at all, I live in west Baltimore, I see, and I have grown up with, and know personally more than a few of these guys. I've discussed this same issue with them. Quite a few Urban Black Men are pre-disposed to an environment of selling dope, or loot, or robbing people, make no mistake. BET just justifies some of this behavior.

I have bootleg cable and it doesn't pick up MTV, VH1 and BET so I haven't watched BET in years since my cable did pick it up.

BET is pretty nasty...I think mainstream media is doing a better job of showing positive black characters...while BET is just getting crappy..
