"Frontline Plus" works the best for my pets
Some use "Advantage"
Neither one usually irritates. It's all the other ones that irritate (and don't work).

Personally, I've found Bio-Spot to be a complete waste of money, especially Bio Spot for cats . If you're going to use a spot-on, use one that not only kills adult fleas but the eggs and larvae, too. That way, you hit all the bases. In the summer and early Fall, I use Advantix because it not only kills all life stages of fleas but also protects against mosquitoes and ear mites. I use Frontline Plus year round on my cats, and the dog version on my dogs from November until March. 1800PetMeds does not have the lowest prices, and I've actually been warned off of them by two different vets, who said there were problems with the prescriptions they fill. The Canadian version of Advantix is a lot cheaper than the American version, although it's made by the same manufacturer (Bayer, I think). You can buy Advantix for $37.94 (dogs over 70 lbs) at www.canadavet.com. For excellent prices on Frontline Plus and Heartguard (a prescription-only heartworm preventative), look into www.vetshoponline.com. The Frontline Plus 3 vial pack for large dogs costs $30.99, which is well below the average price, especially that charged by vets. If you have a small dog, the price will be less. You can also buy these in a 6 vial pack. All of these spot-ons are safe to use, although there is a remote possibility that a dog may have some kind of reaction to them. Products for dogs should never be used on cats. It is also wise to have your dog tested for heartworms and put him on a preventative such as Heartguard. Talk with your vet about heartworm prevention.

I have had very good luck with a product called bio-spot, and pet store should carry it. It is a once a month treatment put between the shoulder blades of your pet, depending on size you may have to put a dose on the base of there tail area also. It last for 30 days, and usually come's as a 4 month supply or so. I'm not sure on the cost, but it depends on again your animals weight.... I read up on the product online and its ingredients are just the same as front line.^^ I would not use flea collars they are pretty useless, and do not over treat. To avoid making your pet sick.. I have 5 dogs and the bio spot is awesome, and i have had no flea problems.. Oh it is also water proof but before you let your pet go in water, or whatnot let the product be on them at least 48 hours after application. This has been the best over the counter product i have found.. I only recommend this product because alot of pet store's do not carry advantix and front line over the counter, at pet smart or company does not and thru 1-800 pet meds you have to have your vet references.. Especially if it has a heartworm treatment in it...

Buy online- you will get it cheaper that anywhere else, though exact prices will depend on where you buy it from. It may be worth taking some of these prices to your vet- some clinics will price-match for preventative products like flea treatment and wormers.
The best kinds by far are those like Frontline Plus, Advantage, & Advantix, if you're looking only for flea treatment, or Revolution or Sentinel Spectrum if you're wanting to do fleas, worms and heartworm in one hit. Stay well clear of supermarket products- half of them do nothing for fleas, and most have the potential to poison the dog.

You can get them at petsmart, petco, and all over the internet. I like K-9 advantix because it helps with fleas ticks and mosquitoes where as frontine only does fleas and ticks. mosquitoes are the way dogs contract heartworm, so if you get a medicen that helps repel them, then you help prevent heartworm. There are cheaper places, if you look, but you can use 1-800 petmeds

You can go to Petsmart to get it. I would only recommend frontline or advantage. The other "off " brands or generics run a higher risk of ineffectivness and skin irriation. You can purchase frontline and advantage at your vet and it will most likey be cheaper at the vet's office. Why don't you want to get it at a vet?

Any big store, in the animal section, we always self treat our animals, and some of our big dogs have lives to be 16yrs. Or, a pet store.
Good Luck

I have good luck with using Bio Spot on my dogs. You can get it online or at a store that have already been mentioned. Either way you can compare prices online.
