Every hotel room I have visted had a bible inside or ontop of the desk? Is this to scare individuals before they commit sins (sex, drugs, adultry, etc...?

No. Christians are supposed to read Bible every day and pray God. they may not carry Bible with them and to felicitate these occupants the Bible is kept in hotel Rooms. These hotels mostly have Christian occupants and this is a reason.-

I think it's more of a courtesy thing- back before things became truly 'politically correct,' it was the responsibility of an inn (old hotels) to be polite to their patrons (of course, the only way to make money), so they supplied their guests with religious material. It makes sense- people didn't want to wear down their own Bibles [Especially before the printing press, when a Bible was extremely costly.] If the traveler brought their own Bible, they risked ruining them by accident, so the inn (or hotel) supplied their own for the traveler.

It's just simply a courtesy provided by the hotel.

As for the reason it's a Bible is probably because most of the old hotel's patrons are Christians, and for the hotel it's best to go with the masses.

May I ask you why you need to ask them to be removed from your room? Are you that intimidated by the Bible? Instead of being intimidated why don't you actually take a few moments and ask God to show you Himself, through His word. There is a story that is true- a married woman had an affair, and got pregnant- she felt so ashamed to tell her husband, that she went to a hotel for the purpose of killing herself and her baby, because she could not tell her husband. She opened a Bible that was in the room, and realized what she had done was wrong but there was forgiveness in Christ- she not only did not kill herself and her unborn baby, she called her husband, confessed and repented and he forgave her. This is what the truth of the Bible can do, if you choose not to believe that is fine, just leave the book in the drawer, and do not find the greatest thing you will ever find in your life- Jesus Christ and eternal life.
