You shouldn't be too discriminated against. In fact you will find that most whites, Indians and blacks are very friendly and helpful and willing to assist you in anyway you might need it. Of course there are always the few who feel they have to be racist, sexist or just plain mean. They come with every crowd, anywhere in the world. The best thing to do is to always be smart and don't go into areas or places where people could cause problems. Security guards will be happy to assist you if you are being harassed by any member of the public. Luckily as a foreigner, your chances of being treated fairly are pretty good. And as to when Mandela dies? No one can live in constant fear of an uncertain future, so why bother? Hope you enjoy your stay!!

Just tradition. That's how things have happened for centuries and it's probably not going to change soon. Plenty of women do make the first move though! Most of us just feel too nervous or that it's not right to ask a guy out. Rejection is an issue as well.

Truthfully, I think this may have more to do with a generation. Most women that I know in their mid 40's and 50's would not make the first move. Traditionally, men for centuries have been known to make the first move. Given the fact I have kids in their early twenties to thirties, I know that many girls do make the first move. I still believe that guys making the first move out weigh women doing it, but it does seem to be happening more and more.

There is nothing wrong with making a move but a lot of the time a woman might be afraid of rejection and thats purely the reason that they would wait for a guy to make the move so that they know they wont be rejected.

no it's not sluty or anything like that.some girls are just a little shy on making the first move, it might be because some girls are more worry about being rejected by a boy. but that's only my opinion. i don't mind ask a guy out first, yeah i might get rejected but I'll get over it.

They actually do make the first move. Men just think they make the first move. Like for me, I don't randomly walk up to a girl. I look to see when a girl gives me the okay with her eyes, body language, etc. Then I'll go up and talk to her, but if that did not happen I wouldn't be able to make the move...

I've made the first move a few times, and it always ends bad. Therefore, the reason I don't make the first move anymore is because everytime I do, it ends up being a painful experience. So I wait paitently. Oh well.

My fiancee' made the first move on me. I shrugged it off because I thought she was already in a relationship. And, I am so happy she did because she is the woman of my dreams and of my reality and future. We are to be married by October. I love everything about her--so if a woman makes the first move, GO FOR IT.

I has been my experience that women tend to wait for the guy to take initiative because they want a man who is confident enough to approach them and make the first move.
