Yes, when I graduated from university I moved to London England on a 2 year visa by myself. I made a few friends while I was there and worked part time and traveled across England usually on weekends. You meet fellow travelers at pubs, hostels, etc. These days you can make friends online, like on WAYN and LonelyPlanet, who live in the cities that you wish to visit, or find fellow travelers who are willing to go with you. Traveling by rail and bus is not only a great way to travel across Europe but also a great way to meet other people too. Good luck and have fun!

I've travelled many places alone, including backpacking around Europe. I began this around the age of 23. you meet fellow travellers on the road - especially at youth hostels.

I love to travel alone - I prefer it to traveling with companions.
My first solo trip was when I was 15 - from Spain to Morocco, and I remember feeling so adult as I sipped mint tea and watched the ships moor in the harbor...
And I've never looked back. I've traveled through wars and disaster areas as a journalist - by myself, accompanied only by my backpack. I've gone across Africa from bottom to top, across Southeast Asia, to Cuba and the Baltics, across Brazil and around the Middle East... and I wouldn't do it any other way!

Most of my travel since adulthood have been alone. All of my friends have kids except me so their travel is limited. Also they have had limited funds. I go alone because I like to do weird or extreme stuff i.e. para sailing, skydiving, skiing, hot air ballooning, etc... I think everyone needs to learn to enjoy themself and not wait on or depend on others for happiness. Also, solo travel let's you do exactly what you want to do with out anyone saying they don't like it or they are bored. HAVE FUN
