Do you think that it is possible that god and the devil are really the same entity? Since good and evil exist in all of us and we are supposed to be created in His image, is it possible that He is just entertaining himself by seeing who will follow which religion?

No, I do not believe in the Bible. I've said it before I'll say it again, it was written by man and therefore open to man's interpretation. Let me ask you one more thing, would there be any entertainment better for god than screwing around with the minds of humans?

There are three entities, god satan and the devil. The devil is really neutral and only tests or tempts people by making them doubt themselves or their beliefs. The Norse Loki, and the native American Coyote, were very similar- tricksters. As far as good and evil goes, it can be easier to understand if you simplify those names to "right" and "wrong". Can anyone be "right" all the time?

We cannot say that good is evil or evil is good. We can see that in the Gospel Jesus that Jesus is tempted by the devil and we know that the devil does exist. When Jesus is accused of casting out demons with the power of the devil Jesus says why would the devil cast himself out?

Here is somthing from the Catechism of the Catholic Church -
395 The power of Satan is, nonetheless, not infinite. He is only a creature, powerful from the fact that he is pure spirit, but still a creature. He cannot prevent the building up of God's reign. Although Satan may act in the world out of hatred for God and his kingdom in Christ Jesus, and although his action may cause grave injuries - of a spiritual nature and, indirectly, even of a physical nature- to each man and to society, the action is permitted by divine providence which with strength and gentleness guides human and cosmic history. It is a great mystery that providence should permit diabolical activity, but "we know that in everything God works for good with those who love him."

If the Invisible Sky Guy exists he can be anything he chooses to be.
It goes along with being all-powerful and stuff like that.
I find some of the answers here amusing to say the least; some talk as if they know the mind of an unlimited god.
That's just weird.

That's a very interesting and valid position to have. I'm not so sure of the last part but it all boils down to all things are each part of one larger thing, all things come from the Source and that "evil" has to be there to balance the good.

In one of the books of the SCRIPTURES which is the Book of THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL, is where the scripture roles of satan were divinely created and as written by THE LORD GOD-THE LORD JESUS CHRIST before our time began. Thus, the Prophet Daniel said, What was written (in the scipture) must be fulfilled. On one hand, in celestial heaven, Archangel Lucifer covers beneath the throne of THE LORD GOD as he Is even the foootstool of the KING AND LORD while Archangels Michael and Gabriel cover above the throne of THE LORD GOD. Thus, according to the scripture, satan who is the materialistic image of Archangel Lucifer, was created to deceive and lure mankind to earthbound goals and thus, bring them to sins and errors, wars, terrorism, bloodshed, crimes, hatred, anger, etc and so he became the enemy of men with his minions-the demons and their incarnates like the druglords, warlords, gamblinglords, crimelords, syndicatelords, etc. But on one side of the battle are THE HOLY SPIRIT composing of THE LORD GOD IN THE SPIRIT called EMMANUEL; then the spiritual communion of the Prophets and Saints and their disciples around HIS throne and all the spirits (angels) around HIS throne; and the image of THE HOLY SPIRIT is in the image of a woman -the VIRGIN MARY. Thus, when a man is under the deceptions of satan, that man suffers as a consequence and THE HOLY SPIRIT as THECOMFORTER on one side of this battle comforts the suffering man by leading him to partake of the honor and glory of the suffering servant-THE LORD JESUS CHRIST WHO earned our salvation through HIS blood. Likewise, the suffering man earns also the spirit of guarantee of deposit for his angel-like status in the soon coming kingdom of heaven; as THE LORD JESUS CHRIST said, A worker is entitled to his wages. No. God is love, holy, good, eternal. Satan was an angel created by God that turned evil by his free-will and rebelled against God with 1/3 of the angels in heaven. God bless.

before the devil was thrown out of heaven...forwhatever reasomn...he was called lucifer, bringer of light. God threw him down to earth to test mens fedelity in God...the devil, as he is known today was never intentionally evil. But the Christians have made him evil to make everyone else including their own number to tow the line. i am one of those who won't and will never tow that line.
