I usually can't remember any of my dreams at all, but lately I can't seem to forget them. I'm dreaming what seems like fantasies (which I've never done before), but I dream that I'm the man in the encounter, instead of the woman.

At first it didn't really bother me, but now I'm starting to get concerned. I almost think that I enjoy being the one "in control" of the situation, so to speak, and I'm not sure what to do about that. (When I say "enjoy" I don't really mean sexually. I don't wake up aroused, even though I feel as though I should be.)

It's not even like I'm in a relationship at the moment, so I don't know of any reason why I should suddenly have any.. repressed control issues surface or anything. Has anyone else ever had this happen on a regular basis, (or at all) or have any idea what could be going on?

Hi there,

Let's cut right to the chase, there is a school of thought in psychology that there is symbolism in dreaming. A symbol is some object, image or thing that stands for/represents something else. I am a social psychologist and not an expert in dream therapy nevertheless I have mentioned dream analysis in some of my University classes as well as analysed other persons experiences. A Freudian school of thought links almost all sub-conscious activity to libbido (the so-called psychic energy that is the primary motivation for human behaviour primarily sexual behaviour.

Using Dr. Sigmund Freud's Psychoanalitic theory (although controversial) suggests that repressed needs, desires, impulses, wishes can occur both in fantasy and sleep while the ego temporarily is not activated to restrain them.

A second explanation is that you are experiencing some kind of sub-conscious/conscious conflict the solution to which or the control of which is directly tied to you being more assertive. Why ? Becasue your personality feels threatened by some stimuli that you are either currently experiencing or have experienced in your past. Our brains like all other systems in the body seek constantly to maintain psycological balance/equilibrium called homeostasis. So your brain function may be quite normal.

You did not say whether you are experiencing stress of any kind and I do not mean current relationship stress ?

You also did not mention your sexual history in any great detail. Nevertheless you may or may not be feeling acute homoerotisism, which is a broad term for any kind of continuous sexual aurosal to member's of one's own gender. This possibility however does not seem to posess high efficacy in your situation as you described absence of sexual aurosal even after these vivid dreams.

It is normal to have sexual dreams involving activity with same sex members. But it is curious why the dreams persist as you say they have and without obvious aurosal. I would have to conclude preliminarily based on the evidence presented that you are a heterosexual female, with a normal sex drive.

Finally, because you are not currently in a sexually fulfilling relationship this part of your psyche is simply craving sexual satisfaction and for some women and men the accomplishment of which may not be completely resolved by auto (self-induced) eroticism.

Try not to despair, be discouraged or overly anxious about these dreams as long as you are emotional/psychologically normal you should have nothing to be concerned about excessively. Try to identify for yourself what kinds of fulfilling relationships do you desire at this time and I mean both intimate and platonic and seek them out or build on them. Cherish your female friends whomever they may be and find creative ways to be happy with them on your own terms.

Best of luck and God bless you,

Just as a reminder, help and support are always available.

I have had those dreams before. I can't really say what was going on since it was a long time ago before I knew anything about psychology. But what I THINK it was, was me trying to work out how sex worked exactly. Most explicit TV shows sex as though men are in control, it's basically dramatized for their arousal. It's not surprising then to want to know or think about how that is subconsciously.

i don't be responsive to while you're a woman or guy. yet permit's placed it this way: (don't be offended) female: it is not something yet hormones. Your physique is going by way of transformations. you have new needs and desires. it is organic. guy: likely it is puberty. while certainly dealing with puberty, it is common to have an interest in the comparable intercourse. it is common. as long as you're no longer involved in adult males basically, you are the comparable as continuously. If no longer, you are going to be gay. there is not any longer something incorrect with being gay. it is your lifestyles. stay it the way you like to.

If your recent dreams do not cause you any distress, I wouldn't worry about them. In fact, dreams are actually good for your mental well being. The more you dwell on them, the more they will persist.
