I have a female cat and male cat. We had our appointment in 2 days for the spay/neuter. My male cat is only 4 months old. He decided to mate with his MOM!!! I do not want this pregnancy to carry out. If i take her in for her appointment and get her spayed, will that terminate a pregnancy if she even is pregnant???? NO STUPID ANSWERS

No stupid answers-dear lord. Do you even know what spaying IS?

Why do you have pets? *sigh*

Yes, that will abort the pregnancy. RESEARCH YOUR ANIMALS NOW.

Edit: Oh, and by the way. Your cat isn't in danger of anything but an owner who REALLY needs to read up on their animals. PLEASE, please do this.

The answer that Dotis provided is perfect.

The spaying will terminate a pregnancy... Spaying is the same thing as a hysterectomy on humans.

As Dotis mentioned, more than likely the 4 month old male did not impregnate the female. Another thing, if it just happened and they are both going in for their operations in two days, you should not have any worries.
Another item that Dotis mentioned is that inbreeding causes serious disabilities, this is a litter that you would not want either way because it is inbreeding.

I always wonder why people do not get their animals fixed as soon as possible. I am glad to see that you are taking them both in to take care of potentially contributing to the over population of unwanted animals.

First of all, don't panic too much about the mating with his mother thing. In cats, its not taboo, its just natural when you keep two unaltered animals in the house. Any kittens resulting from the mating will likely be perfectly normal kittens.

Don't freak out about what spaying the mom will do either. A common myth is that every time the animals mate, kittens result. Thats not true. As with us, its a hit or miss thing. Also, consider that in two days, if there was success, any kittens are not even kittens yet, only divided cells, not yet even an embryo of a kitten.

It would be much better to spay and nuter the cats anyway. If you let the mother cat have another litter of kittens, so soon after her last litter, it could go badly for her.

For more information about spaying and nutering cats, research it. Understand why its better to do it than not, whatever the circumstances.

Yes, the vet can spay a pregnant female cat especially if it just happened, it won't affect the operation. It's when the cat is over a month along that complications can set in when they're spaying them. Don't worry, if she's got the appointment, you can keep it without a problem.

It absolutley would, and the sooner the better- although not really an advocate of this practice, if it is done early in the pregnancy there will be no ill side effects. Chances are nearly nil that a 4 mth old male would be capable of impregnating a female- on the down side- if she was to become pregnant, the kittens may have serious defects- I saw this happen in the 70's and the kittens were mal-formed and had mental deficencies.

From what I've found, spaying a pregnant cat WILL terminate the pregnancy. See link below, which addresses it.

Take her in for the spay appointment, and you won't have anything to worry about. The ovaries and uterus are removed in the surgery, so YES it would terminate a pregnancy.

Yes it will.

And animals when they are in the mood don't recognize family ties.

A spay is a hysterectomy. Mama cat's uterus will be removed so if she's pregnant, it will be over.

But she may not be. Four months old is kind of young to become a daddy.

Enjoy getting to know more about your cats.

it is an old wive's tale. It got here approximately by fact cats wouldn each and every from time to time circulate slowly into the cribs and lick milk from the toddler's lips. till now SIDS grew to become into clinically determined and back while cats have been nonetheless seen "witches familiars" they concept while slightly one died in its sleep "a cat stole its breath". My neice had 5 cat siblings together with her by fact that start and my nephew has had 4. they're the two chuffed, healthy infants. the only element the place you may desire to be cautioned is the little field. A pregnant female shouldn't exchange or scoop out a clutter field as she would be able to settlement a extreme ailment to the fetus.

yes it will terminate the pregnancy...and i have never heard of it making a cat mean! remember...people tend to think of their pets as humans. pets though domestic are still animals. i wont say they dont have some of the same human emotions because they do, but to be mad cause of the loss of kittens.....no! lol. some cats eat their young...you dont see humans doing that. thats just non-scence and there are thousands of studies to prove it. there was an underlying problem with that other cat. but i can 100% guarentee it wasnt from losing kittens.
