The maximum distance is 40 yards, however you should restrict yourself to 20 yards or closer*.. Remember the closer the better*..... Practice, Practice, Practice*.....

Most shots are 20 to 30 yards. When you go mule deer hunting. You should be able to shoot 40 to 60 yards. It all depends on your bow and your set up.You should aways practice. That way you can know your effective range.

this is more of a ethics question... than anything.... most people wont shoot past 30 or 35 maybe 40 to 50 if your hunting sheep in the mountains or real spooky elk but that takes a steady hand and intimate knowledge of what your doing ... you can safely say that 30 yards is about the max for most peolple though..... although ive seen peolple hit 6 inch bulls eyes at 75 and 100 yards under controled conditions ..but no type of bow hunting will be in controlled conditions.....

In one article by a bowhunting expert (can't remember his name), he said ' if you can't see him blink you ain't got a shot, I don't care who you are'.
