I just got a 3"x2" tattoo on my left foot on wednesday . I have been taking really good care of it... wash with antibacterial soap, apply h2ocean cream, and I don't wear anything to irritate it. It isn't even scabbing at all. When I am home, I elevate it and put ice on it, but it still seems pretty swollen. I mean it is definetly larger that my right foot. Even my ankle seems bigger. Is this normal or am I paranoid? And if it is, how long before it will be normal size again?

Thanks in advance!

when i got my feet tattooed they were swolen for about seven days and didn't go back down to normal size for about 12 days. it's normal and you seem to be doing things correctly. don't put ice directly on the skin tho, or just with a plastic barrier. you need to keep it dry so wrap the ice pack in cloth to absorb whatever moisture there is.

If it really is swollen, then you may be alergic to the ink. Do you have any other tattooes?
Then perhaps you're being too precautious. You really don't have to elevate it or put ice on it, who told you that?! I have a tattoo on my foot, and it takes it a while to heal, but I didn't have to give it any special treatment other than using dial soap and putting the ointment on it. I think you might be 'over-caring' for it and that's not too good. Don't keep putting the cream on it all day, it needs to breathe to heal! 2-3 times a day and only apply the ointment after you wash it.
Good luck.

It'll start scabbing in another few days.
It shouldn't be causing any real swelling in your foot or ankle, only the tattoo and surrounding skin would swell at all (and that's only if socks or shoes are irritating it).

Childrens names on the left back shoulder blade area, Melanie on the right back shoulder blade. Old English lettering is a nice style surrounded (with room for addition on the left) with old English ivy and or any other vegetation that appeals to you. The Tatt people will draw something up special just with this rudimentary idea to start with, a good tatt parlor is usually pretty creative with just an idea of what you want.

The feet are pretty sensitive, so I wouldn't be too concerned with that.
You use them every day and are bound to be abused somewhat.
I really don't think you have any reason
to worry about it.
Just keep takin' care of it and it should be fine.
Everyone is different, so you can't take
what someone else tells you that is going to be trouble.
Time will tell............

good luck and enjoy

I had one on my wrist all the way around and it swelled the size of a softball so I called the guy who did it and he said it was normal just keep doing what you are.

I think maybe a week and it should be fine. If not then see a doctor and ask him about it. Good job taking care of it too.

first off you should ask your artist not people on the net but it is common because you walk around but the swellen should go away in a few days if not go see a dr.

they can swell. just keep checking for infection and if it starts hurting more go to the doc. also, walking too much on it too soon can cause swelling. good luck!
