Whenever I drag the mounted application to the trash, the program doesn't work. I tried moving the application icon to the applications folder before deleting the mount, but it still doesnt work. How do I keep it permanent while deleting the mount?

In Mac OS X if you download a program and it is a DMG (disk image) your computer will "mount" the program as a disk, allowing you to open the mount and use the program. To keep the program you need to drag it out of the "mount" to any location on your hard drive; usually the Applications folder or the Desktop. Then feel free the drag the "mount" to the trash.
