Apparently our government pays attention and that can be pretty scary. Recent news stories revealed that the Fundamentalists have several political agendas and will try to infiltrate as many government offices as possible to get control. Some of them are getting subtle in their old age and are trying to gain power covertly.
For those of us who do pay attention and get pissed off on a regular basis, we should put our two cents in as well. Otherwise, theirs will be the only voices heard. I, for one, don't wish to live in a theocracy!

Sure there's a large fundamentalist movement in the world today Thank You Jesus.
Does anyone really pay any attention to an atheist that has to come to a religion site to find someone to degrade and bolster their own ego.

Yes actually we should pay attention to what fundamentalist say/We should evaluate whether his saying is right or not.
Fundamentalist can do wrong and he is not always in a right path..We must measure it with the holy book and hadith.

Unfortunately, yes. Joel Osteen is a pretty high-ranking fundamentalist evangelical christian - meaning he has lots of power and money. I was clicking channels and saw him being interviewed one time by a major network. He was saying that he and the other ministers in the powerful evangelical network actually have a scheduled WEEKLY conference call with George Bush. I was shocked. These people have power and know how to use it. Jerry Falwell was the first one to successfully use religion to lobby and get legislators to see it his way. The conservative right-wing part of Christianity is very scary and unfortunately, very powerful in wielding influence in Washington. They make it very difficult for other good, THINKING Christians like myself.

Oh I pay attention for sure. Believe? Not at all, but it IS nice to know and understand why and how other people think and relate to those that are different from them.

If they were smart they would pay attention to at least some of them. "Fundamentalist" is a very loose phrase. There's a lot of debate as to what it means. Some fundies are whackos. Others are very intelligent. Use your discretion I guess. If the Bible really is the Word of God, then you should read it and obey it. I'd be careful before you write that off, because if you're wrong, you just damned yourself to an eternity of loneliness and fire.

I read their words here, yes. Not always easy going because some of them are as bright as Alaska in December. But, as a writer and theatre and film actor, and a filmmaker, it is important to me to listen to them. As an American I fear their destruction of our democracy, which seems to be the fundamentalists' ultimate goal. A theocracy is their aim, you know, like in Iran.

Only as much as I would pay attention to any human being. Having something to beleive in is great. Making someone feel less than because they do not is not so great.

Personally, as a Catholic, I don't really pay them attention anymore. I used to fully listen to their side and then try to tell them what I believe. But they didn't want to hear it, and I got tired of being told that I am going to hell. I don't like having judgmental, one-sided, closed-minded conversations.
Keep in mind that not ALL fundamentalists are this way, but this has been my own experience with them.
