It depends on where you are going. My family and I went out of the country a few months after Sept 11th and all the new regulations. Many things were stolen from our onlocked luggage. I personally have a lock and use it no matter where I go.

I have traveled a lot since 911. I haven't had any problems with items being stolen and I have never used a lock. My travels have been mostly from Cincinnati and Columbus Ohio to Reno, Nevada. I have also traveled through O'Hare, Dallas, Salk Lake City, Houston, Minneapolis, New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, all with no problems or theft or luggage related.

of course You seem to have an absurdly stupid theory of the hoops you would be wanting to require the police to bounce by to seek an uncomplicated place of residing. A warrant covers the valuables and all products upon that sources, purely putting the products in a suitcase with sticker on it does no longer mean they'd desire to get a 2nd warrant.

I always lock my cases - with the tags that show if they have been tampered with.
