Actually that doctrine has been derived from this passage of the Bible.

Genesis 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

Many scholars say that this verse meant that God was giving mankind 120 years to repent before sending the flood and that it has nothing to do with how old people can get to be.
