I've heard so many things! It's funny after so many generations that these 'tales' still hold true for some lol!
I heard that if you have angry sex (especially the husband) and conceive that you will have a boy?! That was one of the silliest ones yet I think....couldn't tell you if it was true, can't remember the actual conceiving moment lol!

There's an interesting article about this in Parenting Mag. (Aug. 2007). Actually, John Hopkins did research and 82-ish% of the mom's w/ heartburn did have a baby w/ lots of hair. I don't remember the others, but there were several mentioned in the article.

I was told the old wives' tale that you should never lift your hands over your head because it will wrap the cord around the baby's neck. (I watched an ultrasound when my son was awake and active and the cord was all over the place.) I never quite figured out how that was supposed to work so I went on with reaching up to hang film to dry in the darkroom and never worried about it.

I've heard that if you get fat all over you are having a girl. So far that seems true for me! My belly has barely grown at all (17 weeks now) but my butt and thighs are much larger! And I am having a girl.

If you tie a stone to a string and hang it over the person's belly, if it goes back and forth in a straight line, its a boy, if it goes in circles, its a girl. No, it didnt work for me. LOL
