I removed the drain plug, drained the oil. put the plug back in, went to remove the add oil plug on top, and it stripped out trying to remove it, so unable to add from the top filler plug, I removed the bottom plug, and pushed a hose inside and pumped about 1 & 3/4 quarts of ATF inside, and replaced the drain plug, but since i cant watch the fluid come out on the top fill plug I dont know how much to add.

I own a transmission shop, and have dealt with these for a while now. You do not have Auto track. 1 and 3/4 quarts is about what it holds, but it seems to me they do hold 2 qts. Honestly I have done many of these, and I really have never measured it to see, but it sure looks like about two quarts that comes out. Can you measure what came out of it? As for the plug that stripped out; You can go to the next size bit, and drive it in with a hammer, put an impact wrench on it, and it will come right out. You can replace the torx bit type with a regular plug from a parts store. Remember to keep the rig on the impact wrench as short as you can and still be able to get on it. Extensions tend to not have as much removal power as a short rig will.
Part 2:
If you already know which fluid to use, then whats the problem? If you had auto-trac, it would say so on the dash. In our transmission shop we remove about one a week in order to get the tranny out, and yes we have to drain them. If you have been putting "red fluid" in it, then you are correct in doing so. It would seem to me the stripped out plug is your problem here, or did I misunderstand your question? I've been working on vehicles for over 40 years, and I guess that might make me qualify as a mechanic. Auto-trac is just what it says, Auto (short for Automatic) and your buttons on the dash would certainly let you know it was automatic. The book says to change the fluid after you have warmed it up by driving it for 15 min. and after you refill it you should drive it again, and check it again afterwards. I don't see how you can do any of this without that plug being repaired. If you measured what came out of it, and replace that same amount, you would be ok, but getting that stripped out plug out of there is the "only" way to do it right!
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

you might try tapping the edge of it with a hammer and a chisel, that might loosen it up,other wise you may have to drill it out,and you really don't want to do that, all the shavings will enter the transfer case,i almost stripped one once, but got lucky and got it out,at worst you,ll have to use a make shift tool to remove it with, good luck hope this helps.

First what color was the fluid you drained out??
If it was red replace with ATF if blue replace with Auto Track II fluid. DO NOT SUBSTITUTE!!!
The transfer case should hold about 2 quarts.

depends on which gear box it is, if it is a new process gear box, and ill bet that it is, 1.75 qrts should be just fine. when the fluid warms up it will expand and take up a little more space...
