I do attend and am a member of a local Assemblies of God Church here where I live. It is God I serve and have great respect for the authority God has set in as Pastors of the church. Amen<><

This Term "RELIGION" was just something I could never understnad for years. Before I knew God very much, I had a Christian friend, and she really lived all she knew, and I loved that and I would say I wish I could be religious like you, meaning to be a great Christian. She would always say I am not religious, and I am Christian. She tried and tried to explain to be the difference, but it just would not seem to click. BUt, years and years down the road ,it did click. I am a Christian and have been many years and I do belong to a full gospel church, which believes along the lines of the Pentacostal Church, but we dont call oursleves that anymore. Its not that we are ashamed of the name, but thtere are so many churches today within every denomination, including the pentacostals. As with everything , new stuff comes in thats not of God at all, and a bunch leave and start a new one, etc, so to say you are pentacostal today is like saying you are from A to Z. which one are you? So, we just say we are full gospel, meaning we believe all of the Bible and that God cals us to obedience also, that we obey what we believe. Grace will not cover willful, deliberate sin, that continues on and on. Grace is for past sins and for sins we dont know are sins now. IT can be something we are struggling with, but we are genuinely give our all to GOd as He is working with us, not just stepping out and doing it over and over again and sayin oh grace as me covered. SO thats the core of my beliefs. God does tell us not to stop fellopshipping with each other, so we know He does want us all together in worship, so we do go to church. But, we have lived where we could not find a church that preached full truth, and we didnt go. We had our own church. If a person does not attend a church for that reason, then they need to get one going in their home, with like believers and conttinue to have worship with others.
Many things in churches around the world are true and should be followed , whether it be a new revelation thing, or something that has always been done. But the things that are not of God, are not to be followed, whether they be new or a long standing tradition. Tradition is good, when it is something that should always be done and still done. But, tradition that is not from the Bible should never have been started and need to stop NOW.
Once I started understanding THOSE things, then the rest started to come to me. Man made religion are the things that you or a church does that are based on man made rules, church rules even, that have zero to do what anything God has commanded us to do. I have seen churches split over the color of the piano. Hogwash, devil just loved that huh The saing, WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD A BLACK PIANO> NO WHITE ONE COMING IN> BUt, we needed a new one, and a white one was donated. Such hatefulness came from that, and you see that and more in churches and with Christians all the time. WEll,let me take that back. NO Christian would ever do those things. These are ppl with a false form of godliness, claiming to be Christian. If you wont believe in God, and you wont obey Him, you are not Christian. God says, IF YOU LOVE ME< OBEY remember that. Blessings come from obedience, and disobedience leads to curse.. those are only a few things in scirpture on this subject.
Back to what religion is vs Christianity...
A Christian is one that loves Jesus, believes in Jesus and is a follow of Jesus. THey live like Him, think like Him, Speak like Him in love, but with boldness and no fear of compromise. Jesus didnt speak and say I would love to preach on homosexuals today, but I cant as I know a few are here. My Gosh, the truth sets us free when we accept it, so we must always live truth and speak truth and leave the convicting to the Holy Spirit. When someone is a true Christian, be it in church or out, they will desire only to do Gods willl and not their own, They will surrdender to Him daily, and they can do it because of the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Jesus gives us the authority and power to connect with the Holy Spirit and do as He does. So being Christian is being like Jesus, and wanting only to be closer to Him and more like Him today. WE follow His rules, as He is our example of how to live and think and even react, and its only He we will hear and obey. No church is above the teachings of Jesus. And yes, we know the Jews are Israels chosen ppl and we support them, and we support the war too, cuz we know what will happen if we lose and just give up. If you dont want to be muslim, we gotta get behind President Bush and fight for our rights to live free and worship free PTL>
A religious person is someone that believes and lives what their church teaches, even if it goes against God. and they wont really dig hard for truth for fear usually of finding it. A religious person will follow the traditions of men and the church, even if they cant be proved as things God calls us to do, and even when they run contrary to the Bible. YOu will see some so involved in church, running everything and just so looed up to, but when you get to know them, many have no clue who God is or try to live that way, its being big time in church. running all the committes, being on the board, and following things in legalism just cuz. If I think its ok to wear jewelry, for example, and the church says NO, and I just dont wear it, thats religin. When pp use another source other than the Holy Bible to believe or do what they do God calls this having a false sense of godliness and says he wont know them at all when they say LORD LORD.
WE must live only to do what God tells us to do, and to live like Jesus lived But the devil will convince ppl its too hard to do, so they dont try. Its not hard, when you study the word and know truth, pray and know God, and surrdender yourself daily to the fully will of God, denying self. The more you do that, the more GOd will bless you and make you more like Jesus, cuz you are wanting to obey and be like Jesus.
When someone says they believe , but they wont really dig in and study truth, or they rarely pray and desire to do what they want or what the church says, thats religion. THo there are some that pray and study all the time that still dont know God, as they look for things to match up with current personal beliefs or those of the church.
God is our only solution to every problem, Knowing and living that way is Christianity. When a pastor stands up today and condones abortion or homosexuality and a host of other sins, that is religion. As that runs totally contrary with the word of God. GOd is claling us Back right now as we speak, in these last days to true holiness and obedience and HE says that we are either fully lHIs or we arent His at all. Its not about the church, its about God and our rellationship with Him. Do we love Jesus enough to obey Him and live like Him?? T hat answer deceides if you are Christian or religious. One can only ask that of themself. We cant do it for anyone else, just ourselves.
WE arent to be the type that is disprestful to others even in church and try to cause division, but we are to look for things that arent GOdly and mention these to the pastor, eldors, others,, etc, and if they wont repent of them, then we go to a new church or start our own. There is a current, very popular teaching out there right now, and its corrupt. That we are not to quetion anything with the leaders, even if we feel it goes against the Bible, as our loyalty is to the church. ANd they use all the scriptures where God says to be in unity in church to prove that. But, GOd tells us tree unity is when its done in love and in truth. When all the devil worshippers get up and agree to worship the devil, thats unity. but not unity in truth or in God, unity with the devil. Mankind must begin to truly undersatnd this and give their full loyalty to God once again. And if you are in a church that will do this, yes there should always be unity, If you cant because of no truth there, run to the nearest exit as John Haggee says RUN.
Hope I answered your question Many would say I am overly religious, as I live what I believe and I make no compromise , period. But, religious??? I have not one religious bone in this body or mind, none at all. I seek to follow only JESUS CHRIST, my Lord and saviour that died for Me and is coming for me again soon....

Thats the only way to feel, Jesus came taking a stand against religion, He wants a personal relationship with his people. Religion is man's attempt to reach God, but God comes to us in the person of Jesus Christ.

God be with you,

I was the same way. I was born and raise Catholic Christian and now I question may things and find out what I make of religion. I have my own genre of faith and belief. I take bits and pieces of religions I like and make my own. Now I am starting to like the concept of religion better than thinking of it just as I was taught. I found my own way to God, and that is all that matters.

I am a Christian and I attend a non-legalistic, Baptist church.

To me, most religions propound what people must do to appease God and curry His favor. In Christianity, however, God assumed human form in the Person of Jesus Christ. He took upon Himself the sins of His elect (Christians) in order that they could live with Him eternally in heaven. He gave them the gift of faith in order that they would receive eternal life.

Christianity is primarily a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

I feel the same way I follow Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, I feel that religion and denominations separate people from God and their brothers and sisters in Christ.

We have some very religious people in our church and my spirit clashes with them all the time, I avoid them ,whenever I can, they drain me with their rules and they have no human understanding for any out of the norm situation.
