Okay many people take birth control for things other than being sexually active. I take mine for acne and control of my periods. It's good to be on it for those type of things. What birth control does is regulate your hormones which cause acne and causes you period cycle. DO NOT TAKE MORE THAN ONE A DAY...it will mess up your cycle even more and put you at risk for side effects even more so...the best way to have these things be normal is to take it the same time everyday and only take the recommended dose (usually one pill for birth control).....They make take a few months, but you should see improvements...Good luck!

I was watching A&E TV show. They had experts on the show. It was all about this new birth control in short is a must to be on. Not only will it help acne. It also protects a women from becoming the worst person to be around due to the Hormone changes in the body. We all get weird. Very mean. It's not are fault! This new pill will help you to become yourself again. The acne seems to go away. The bloating and the horrible pain really go away. Plus get on good vitamin and mineral program. Lots of water all the time. Also al the Dr.s agreed to make a Daily Diary for two months. This will help the Dr. to pin point when the Acne begins to apear more. The mood swings. Because of the early bloating and Hormone Changes. I don't know the name of this NEW PILL. Just tell your Dr. They should know the name!! Good luck.

you should never take 2 birth control pills a day, more estrogen can put you at risk for certain types of cancer, and strokes. Just take the recommended dose and your skin will clear up after a couple cycles.

Oral contraceptives (birth control pills) are used in treating acne to reduce the amount of androgen acting on the skin and oil glands. Though only a few specific brands have been tested and shown to decrease acne, it is thought that any estrogen containing oral contraceptive would have the same effect. They don't work on the skin specifically (like a topical medicine like benzoyl peroxide) but work on the entire body to reduce the amount of free testosterone running around the body. Since testosterone can act on the skin to cause increased oil production, reducing the amount of testosterone can, over time, reduce the amount of acne that you develop after 6-9 months of use, 30-60% decrease in acne).

The hormone system in the body is very tricky and just adding more estrogen does not necessarily mean you get better results. Taking 2 pills a day will not make your acne go away faster, but it may cause increased side effects (nausea, mood changes, breast tenderness, breakthrough bleeding, increased risk of stroke and heart attack). You should consider some therapies other than oral contraceptives including topical medications (like benzoyl peroxide, retinoids, antibiotics). You should discuss these with your doctor as some of them require a prescription and most people use the over the counter products improperly leading to over-drying.

Keep your chin up. Most people will grow out of their acne eventually (though I do know that not all do) and there are a great number of options for treatment.
