I use to frequent Birmingham International Raceway,B.I.R.
What so good about it well lets go back to the 60's;
Red Farmer,Bobby and Donnie Allison,or better known as "The Alabama Gang".
The from Nasvhville Speedway a hot shot named Darrell Waltrip came down(After one race the police escorted him out because he beat the Alabama gang)
Then there was Neil Bonnett,Hut Strickland, got their starts here and we should not for get that Davey and Clifford Allison(RIP) also started here.
Others that have raced here included ;
Gary Bradberry
Charlie Bradberry(RIP)
Raymond "Friday" Hassler(RIP in twin 125 in the 70's)
Rusty Wallace
Mark Martin
Richard Petty
Ned Jarrett
so yes the good local tracks fast becoming a thing of the past,but don't we love them.

I use to go with a boyfriend of mine (now ex) to Myrtle Beach speedway and watch Dale Earnhardt, Jr. drive. He drove a #3 Sundrop car and did not do much, but then the next year he was in a Mom 'n' Pops ham #3 car and won a race or two, and was always in the top 5. I also saw his sister Kelley and brother Kerry drive there.
The local shortracks were really fun, but most of them around here have closed up. Things related to Nascar seem so different these days.... and not for the better. But really Dale Jr. is the only one I saw race that has made it to the "big time"

You can't get any better than this......our local track is owned by Bob Sargent, Ken Schrader, Kenny Wallace, and Tony Stewart. How's that for a line-up of who's who in the world of dirt racing??? Macon Speedway just had a big NASCAR night with Ken Schrader, Kenny Wallace, Marcus Ambrose, Jason Leffler, Stephen Leicht, Mike Wallace, Steve Wallace, J.J. Yeley, Kyle Busch, Casey Mears, Bobby Labonte and David Reutimann along with Ray Evernham and Aaron Pierce.
That race will be on Speed on July 22nd.
Tony is giving away a 2007 Chevy Tahoe.
This is from Macon's site:
"This unprecedented promotion kicks off this Saturday night at Macon Speedway with the first of 5 qualifying contestants transferring to the final round. On each race night through the grand prize drawing on Saturday September 8th, race fans are encouraged to fill out a ballot to be eligible at a chance to win this ultimate prize."
Ken Schrader has raced at Macon since LLOONNNGG before he went to NNC. I met him back in '84. I almost met Mike Wallace at a race in White City, IL in 1987.

My local short track is Eldora speedway. Ive watched Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, Dale Blaney, J.J. Yeley, Tyler Walker, Craig Kniser before they went to NASCAR. But since Tony Stewart bought the track Ive watched alot of already famous people race there. I wouldnt call myself a true NASCAR fan but i would say im a true stock car and sprint car fan.

My call is Earl is taken into consideration one of my widespread shows yet i did not see the episodes that Michael Waltrip have been in. it rather is too undesirable My call is Earl is getting cancelled too. i won't be able to think of of many cameos good now. I undergo in strategies in Talladega Nights, Dale Jr asked Ricky Bobby for an autograph. Jamie McMurray made a cameo too. Jamie and Ricky Bobby have been racing one yet another and the two spun out and Ricky drove backwards to win the race then gave Jamie the finger.

My fav track is Talledaga, which is also the longest track, and I think Bristle is the shortest being only a half mile, while Talledaga is 2.7 miles I think. IMy fav is Jeff Gordon, but I also likee Kyle Bush, and I saw him win at California Speedway! Also, this year they added Montreal which is 2.71 miles and is also a road track
