Baptists are the only Christians I know of that have a problem with evolution. The Catholic Church has no problem what so ever with evolution. Fortunatly Catholics make up the majority of Christians in the world and Baptists are only common in America. It is totally possible to believe in God and believe in evolution at the same time. In fact, that is the case with most Christians in the world, including the Pope. You Baptists keep trying to argue that this is some kind of atheist-Christian debate when in fact most Christians in the world have no problem with evolution. Most Biologists in America are in fact Christians. This is not an atheist-Christian debate. This is a debate between science and Baptists.

I don't think they necissarily hate it... they just don't believe that's how we came about. Also, it's not just baptists that don't believe in evolution... my parents are pentacostal and also don't believe in it. In grade 5 they got mad at the school because they started teaching my class about evolution. I personally believe in evolution and that everything in the bible didn't actually happen. If God did really make the bible for us to follow like pentacostals and baptists and other christian religions say it is.. i believe that those are stories he used to make a point ... and to teach us a lesson. I also believe many bible stories are a lot like myths. For example... there are many myths about how rainbows came about. Just like how the bible explains it as "God's way of saying he would never flood the earth again". ( in the story of Noah and the arc) Another example is how the bible explains how snakes don't have legs. Because the serpant influenced eve to sin it had to crawl on it's belly from then on. I think that some types of christianity take the bible too literally. Also.. another thing that makes me believe that the bible was made to explain life by giving examples of stories is that no where in the bible does it fit in anything about dinosaurs? There's another point for science and evolution. Science can prove it... the bible can't. The only thing that baptists/ pentacostals etc. have to say is that it's real because the bible says so ... but how can they prove the bible is real? People have found skeletons of the creatures from different stages of evolution... that is proven. It kinda makes me wonder when i asked my sunday school teachers why dinosaurs weren't in the bible and they said.." ask God when you get to heaven".

Wow... I wish I met more Catholics that thought like you. I know SO many Fundamentalist Catholics (like SUPER Hardcore) and they have literally yelled at me when discussing evolution. They always insist that there is evidence disproving evolution (which they conveniently never cited where it came from). So really it all depends on the people.

There are a lot of people that simply can't grasp the idea of evolution. I mean they will sit there for hours saying "Well... if we came from monkeys... why are there still monkeys?" And that is their whole argument. I am glad that you can use your brain (seriously... SO happy) There is no reasonable belief that says you can't believe in both God and evolution.

So I guess as an answer to your question... I just wish PEOPLE (atheist, catholic, baptist you name it) would use their own thoughts and intellect to make an informed choice for once in their lives.

The theory of evolution is contrary to the Biblical account of creation. Baptists hold the Word of God as true an inerrant.

Creation was not chance, nor survival of the fittest. Creation did not start with a cell that somehow magically appeared in a bunch of goo. In fact, the bible tells us that birds were created before fish.

There is no comparison.

LOL...

Because their greatest population of churches is in the bible belt where they can be assured of a full church if they take their stand on anti-this-and-that issues - never mind the facts. A good many of their church membership are still fighting the civil war, defending against the Mexicans at the Alamo and a-ready to face the savage Indians on the plain; and of course, they're still upset over civil rights, homosexuals, rock music and porn. Give them something to stand against and there they will blindly stand against it forever. It's as if total ignorance was the highest virtue one could aspire to achieve. Believe me ... I live here, smack dab between the heart of Dixie and the ole Wild West.

Well I think you haven't done your research dear! all religions have problems with evolution. This goes against the idea that God created man and that man was not evolved. Not just the Baptists.Check your facts and I am not a baptist.

You are wrong in believing that Baptists are the only denomination that has a problem with evolution. The catholic church is not really Christian so it does not surprize me that they accept evolution.

Hate? I don't think that they hate it. It's just against what the Bible says. The Bible doesn't say that God made proto-matter that became single celled creatures and then finally animals. God just made animals as they are from the first day. The Catholic church has many beliefs that are not found in the Bible.

God made the earth, the heavens, etc, the Bible clearly says that.

Can you take a watch, break it and then put it in a box, then shake it and make it into something? Of course not, you say. That's how we feel about evolution and the big bang idea, God made everything. WE were not made from apes, well maybe you were, but I'm a child of God, read Genesis, He made Adam from the dust of the earth, breathed life into him, then made Eve from his rib. How, I don't know, but I know I trust God and I believe His holy word.

You keep saying "you Baptists", but hey, I always knew we were separate for a reason. We're special for a reason.

Why do whales have 5 finger bones in their flippers? Must be another case of god trying to deceive us? tricky bastard that one.

I'm not baptist but I hate evolution cause it doesnt make any sense. There are no such think as mutations its all birth defects which animals and humans live with. There are lots of survivable birth defects none of them aid anybody with a better way of life
