What is the first thing you would say to them?

Ah, very good answers from the Christians, yet it is all theory and no practice. Some of these same people show their true colors in other questions but like to pretend they're the greatest followers of Jesus.

While I do support the idea that one should be loving and forgiving to set an example for others, I am also aware that no one is really able to convince another simply through love. After all, it is possible to love without believing in God, so loving cannot be enough.

I'm not a Christian (you know that), but I felt compelled to react to the answers so far. Again: great theory, ineffective practice, and almost no one truly practicing anyway.

I don't know if I would say anything to them at first other then to greet them. Remember Christianity is a relationship so that is the first thing to do is build a relationship. Then, although I would not hide my beliefs I would attempt to live the gospel in front of them rathervthan talk them into it. St Francis said to preach the gospel constantly and if necessary use words.

Hello. Introduce myself and talk to them like a normal person. I probably wouldn't even bring Jesus or Christianity up until I had met or talked to them a few times. You can't go around "Jesus this, Jesus that" people think you're insane.

Some Christians forget how to relate to people, and end up driving them away. I care about PEOPLE, not just scoring one more for Christianity.

Only the Holy Spirit can convert someone. Christians just plant the seeds of God's message. And that message is, that God loves you and wants you to join Him in heaven

Try seeing it this way:

There is no proof any one religion is right. If you 'convert' somebody to christianity and you have it wrong, would they suffer an eternity in a burning hell of a religion they used to follow?

Why would you want to take the risk? If a person condemns themselves, then let them do it, don't try and make their choice for them.

God is about love and peace.
the opposite, hate and war is caused by satan, who has been too often overlooked as the source of our troubles.
We have to ask. What was God's purpose in creating us?
To continually suffer? which we are doing now.
A loving God would not consider such a thing.
He wants us to enjoy the earth he gave us. and the free will/
It is our misuse of free will that has caused us so much trouble.
(Genesis 2:16-17) And Jehovah God also laid this command upon the man: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. 17 But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”

We chose to disobey and we have suffered since.
And do not forget. It was Satan who tempted Eve in the first place. she did not do it of her own volition.
(1 Timothy 2:11-15) Let a woman learn in silence with full submissiveness. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 Also, Adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived and came to be in transgression. 15 However, she will be kept safe through childbearing, provided they continue in faith and love and sanctification along with soundness of mind.

First: you cannot convert a person. God gives the faith to whomever He wills it. Ever wonder why we know that He is...yet so many intellectuals can't fathom that a God exists? It's not mind knowledge. It's not something you can make happen. It's God's doing. All you do is speak what you can...convincing is something God does in the heart. Just be sincere...it's God's miracle, you just open your mouth.

I'm an atheist and I don't believe in attempts to convert people to Christianity. Allow people to learn the facts instead of brainwashing them with propaganda.

I don't know that I would say anything. I think that is is better to let others see the life that you lead. Jesus set the perfect example so I would probably show the Gospels in the New Testament to them.

I wouldn't even try. I can't save anybody, and i don't think it's right to think that way when only God truly can. Anyways, it just gets on their nerves, lol.
