If I understand right LDS males cannot hug the lassies. How then do they go a courting? Is it just Missionaries or all of the male sex?

There is no rule or commandment that says missionaries can't hug the opposite sex. It is one of those "unwritten rules" that isn't a rule. What is written in the missionary handbook is that they are not allowed to flirt. Some mission presidents may set a rule for their mission against hugging, but mine didn't. The missionaries serve for two years to preach the gospel, not to find a bride. After they are done, then they can do all the courting they want.

The young missionaries are barred from dating because they are dedicated to the ministry during their mission assignment. To get too familiar with the young ladies would divert their attention away from their ministry. When their mission time is completed, then they are encouraged to court and marry for time and all eternity and thus gain an eternal companion.
Senior missionaries are often husband and wife serving together in ministering to the needs of the people.

Men can of course hug women. Missionaries dont get physical withthe opposite sex (men and woman missionaries) while they are on their missions. Women are on their missions for a year and a half, and men are on it for 2 years. before and after, it is up to them. And let me rimind everyone that they CHOOSE to go on a mission and KNOW that they cannot be physical with the opposite sex. They do this so they can focus on their mission and not get distracted. Also to prevent temptation.

Missions are for 2 years, after that they will go back to their regular lives and continue or in some cases start courting.

Mormon missionaries are on missions to do a job preach.. They are not on a mission to go courting...
A mormon who is not on a mission can hug anyone he or she chooses to hug... They are not forbidden from hugging..

with the exception of blood relatives they cannot hug, they date or marry the girl thats waiting after they return home from their mission.

They don't go courting while on their mission. They wait till their two years are up, and when they go home, THEN they start courting.
