1 part Bass® pale ale
1 part Guinness® stout

Fill stien half full with Bass. Next pour Guiness over a spoon slowly until glass is full. If done correctly the Guiness will stay on top and the Bass on bottom hence the name Black & Tan.

A black and tan is usually half Guinness & half Bass Ale..... however, a true black and tan should be half Guinness & half Harp Lager... you can also try my favorite combo a black & red, half Guinness & half Smithwicks!!! Poor the lighter beer in first, and then float the Guinness on top of the back of a spoon. Good luck!

Black and Tan is a drink made from a blend of pale ale and a dark beer such as a stout or porter. Sometimes a pale lager is used instead of ale; this is more usually called a half and half. In Ireland both Stout and Ale drinkers may order a black and tan for variety.

It's actually Bass and Guiness. If you pour the guiness over a spoon on top of the glass with the bass already in it, it will layer on top.
