I know a great many Christians who would argue yes. However, I tend to think that whatever you believe will happen, will happen. So if you don't believe in God, and you don't believe in hell... Why would you go to hell?

Every one when they die goes to hell. Hell is the grave. Jesus Christ when he died went to hell, but He wasn't there long, he was risen in three days and three nights, and is now at the right hand of the Father, to enter cede for us.
Jesus Christ said " The wages of sin is death(we have all sin and come short of the glory of God). If we do not repent and ask God to forgive us our sins, we will surely die in the fire that will destroy every thing. We have to believe that Jesus Christ came and died for our sins, so we can be saved alive.
Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins. You only have to believe and ask to be forgiven your sins, and go and sin no more. when Jesus Christ return es the second time, it will be to take His Kingdom, and He will rise those that are in Christ, and they will be changed and be reborn of the Spirit to rule with Jesus Christ a thousand years.
Read 1 Corinthians 15:42-58.

Can there be a hell and not a God?

There's a small, very small, negligible, nonexistent, possibility. First, god has to exist. Then, he has to be a real ###hole of a God, enough of an @**hole to torture people for eternity after they were made in such a crappy fashion that they couldn't help but break his commandments or eat a stupid apple. Then, if such an ***hole god exists you'd probably go to hell after believing that he exists anyway.

Nope, there is no Hell.
It is a misinterpretation when the Bible was written, but JUMPED on by the Catholics, and now the fundamentalist Christians, to evoke fear and obedience to the church.
Of course a LOT of nutters will disagree, but then THEY are the ones who are doing the damnation in the name of God and Christ.
Strange how they skip the teachings of Jesus, of love and forgiveness, in favour of eternal torment!

Nobody goes to hell when they die. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". No one is going to go to hell until judgement day.

more than likely; but God is gonna do what God wants to do, He decides who comes in and who stays out. your chances would be better if you were one of his own.
