Let me explain. I can't have a house cat because my husband is allergic. The kitten is in a very large enclosure made of smooth wire grids with half inch gaps so she gets plenty of air. She is also in a covered carport (shade) with plenty of water and has been vaccinated. No wild animals can get to her. I would appreciate some helpful advice instead of flaming. Thanks! (P.S. My last cat lived outside since this age and lived until she was 16 years old when she died of natural causes.)

First of all make sure that the kitten has adequate water. Then make sure that the enclosure is in the shade. I would put a tarp or something around the outside of it for extra shade and protection. While I agree that the kitten should'nt be kept outside, I do think that the lady above me was WAY too harsh. If it's possible, take the kitten inside.

I couldn't keep a kitten outside if its hot closed up in anything. If you have to keep it outside in a closed area then you need to let it get out since anything closed up can get way over 100 degree's and fry its little brain. So if I had a kitten outside and in a place that I couldn't keep open I would dig a whole next to it so it could go in the whole outside. pretty deep in the ground. The grounds stays much cooler and then I would put a wooden box over it so it could go in and out. I would put vent wholes on the side of the box. this way the kitten can go into the box with some fresh air or into where you are keeping it. It might decide to use this as a little area though to so make sure little box is close by the whole so it will not use the whole to pee in. you can also make it so it can go under the house or trailer if you live in one of those. If you live in a apartment then forget that idea. Most cats can do fine under a house or trailer. Its much cooler. hope this helps and good luck with your kitten.

Try giving him a few soaked kibble, and hot it up within the microwave for approximately 30 seconds - assess it in your wrist. When he is performed, stuff him for your blouse, and he's going to normally fall asleep. He's normally extraordinarily fearful of being clear of his siblings and his mother, and you have not made that any simpler through treating him like a puppy. He's an excessively touchy puuppy, and also you must remeber he is nonetheless a child. He normally will have to have stayed along with his mother for one other week, could be my bet. But for now, simply permit him cuddle quietly, no longer close any loud noises or fuss, and permit him get a few sleep. He's normally beaten and in determined want of sleep. Keep in brain, child dogs do not do some thing as opposed to sleep for greater than 20 mins, and he is a child. Coddle him for a even as - however do not compliment him for whining - and supply him every week or so that you can develop up. Either that, or take him again.

Kittens need plenty of fresh water and plenty of shade. Cover an area of the enclosure a light cover but also dark enough so the bright sunlight won't get to her.

The best way to keep her cool is to bring her inside. If paper training is your issue, leave paper over the entire enclosure inside. Little by little, remove some of the paper, until there is one sheet left in a corner. By then, the kitten should know to go on paper. Add details if it is some other problem you need your kitten outside.

Why in the world would you get a very "sweet 7 week old kitten" only to be worried about keeping it cool outside? It is barely old enough to be weaned and cannot take care of itself outside. You should keep it indoors until it would be big enough to take care itself outdoors against other animals. But cats make great indoor pets and live twice as long when kept that way.

a cat is not an animal to be left outside like that let alone a 7 week old kitten. i have bunnies and one way we keep them cool in the summer is to free like a 2 liter bottle of water and put it out there for them to lay by and what not. but i would really considering keeping your cat indoors.

She should be indoors, not outside. A kitten is a baby and cats are very social. It doesn't make sense to keep her away from a family that's wanting her as a pet. The more she's around you the more people friendly she'll develop.

If you want the kitten to be people friendly as an adult don't keep it outside. It needs to socialize with people as much as possible. If it's really hot outside don't keep the animal outside. There is no way to keep it cool enough for it to stay healthy.

She should absolutely not be kept in an enclosure outside! She is a family pet and should be inside with the rest of the family!
