hi, i am 7 weeks pregnant and spotting around time i would get my period---is this normal?

i went to the doctor's today (7/14/07) and he said my cervix is closed, but it's too early to tell if it's a miscarriage.

i didn't spotting the 1st month i was pregnant ( i just didnt get a period, thus i took a HPT), so i am concerned that i am doing it now.

what your thoughts and/or experiences?

i got to do bloodwork and an ultrasound, but not until THURS (7/19/07) so i am really anxious.

also, i work a 2nd job, do you think this is TOO much for me? my 2nd job is at a children's shelter and i work 8am to 4pm?

i had sex 14 days ago (yes, i am counting)

if this has happened to you and you had a miscarriage, how soon after spotting did it occur

Hi there,

This happened to me. I did not spot or bleed the first month, but I bled and even passed a few clots at the time my period should have came in the second month. I was scared silly!!!

But, in my case the bleeding only lasted from when I woke up at 5:30am until about 1pm. Then it stopped and my pregnancy continued just fine and I gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

Don't have sex. Do try to take it easy if you can. Working the second job is perfectly ok, as long as you feel you can handle it. Pregnant women are capable of doing lots, just as long as there are no complications that prevent them from doing so.

I can't tell you all will be fine, but I can send you positive wishes and vibes. I can tell you to think positive and there is a good chance that everything is perfectly ok.

All the best to you and hugs!!!

Hey there,
From my experience, spotting is normal in the first few weeks. Some people spot the entire 9 mos. and some don't spot at all. You said that its only on the tissue when you wipe, so that shouldn't be anything to worry about. I won't tell you not to worry, you'll do that anyway. Espesially if its your first child. However from experience I think you and the baby will be just fine. I spotted a bit during my first pregnancy, and like you, was very frettful of miscarriage. Your body has to get used to the idea of creating a life, it has to adjust. I do hope everything works out. Congratulations.

You could be miscarrying, or you could just be bleeding. If you are still bleeding, and bleeding like a period you may be miscarrying. Keep in mind cramps are normal. The best, and faster way to know is to have blood work done. Then they can test your hCg levels to tell if you are still pregnant. (The levels should climb high) If you can you could go to the ER and have them do blood work, but I would only do that if you are well insured. Otherwise call your dr. Monday and tell them you want your hCg levels read. You shouldn't need to see your dr., they should be able to call the lab orders in.

Another way is to a pregnancy test. The test also measures the hCg hormone. You would need to take a test today and one tomorrow. The problem with that though is it is not always accurate.... So I would recommend against it. But the option is there, if you are desperate for emotional relief.

Good luck!

Ive had spotting with all my pregnancies, and did not have any miscarrages (i had a stillbirth, but that was unrelated)

If its just light spotting, not enough to need more than a pantyliner then you are probably fine, the blood vessels in the vagina and cervex are under alot of strain in pregnancy, and can bleed with little or no irritation. If it gets havier, or you start to pass clots, or have cramping, you may be miscarrying. Taking it easy will not prevent a miscarrage, and as long as your work is not too physically demanding then nothing you do will cause a miscarrage. Just try to be positive, you will feel better once you see the dr. Goodluck

If it becomes more then spotting i would head to the ER if it's after your docs hours or call your doc right away if it's during their hours. I started bleeding as in the color of period blood and it got heavier over night. My doc told me to go to the ER the next morning if it got heavier. It did and we lost the baby we tried for for four months. We only knew for about a week though so the loss was depressing, but we got over it. Our doc gave us the okay a few weeks later to try again and we are now 29 wks pregnant with a baby girl!!

It could be a lot of things so calm down. When you get a blood draw they will be looking for your horomone levels and then you will come back a few days later to see if the levels drop or not. If they do, then you will miscarry soon.

You will want to keep your feet up as much as possible and don't have sex again until you know something more certain.

Relax, getting upset won't help you calm down. Try to calm yourself as much as possible. I know it is hard as I have been there.

Take care,
Truth
