In this context it means "from now until then." In other words, it is accepted from this time to that time (summer 2008).
English is a very hard language to master and this is a confusing phrase. Good luck.

It's short for "accepted only from now through summer of 2008," meaning that whatever it is will be accepted any time between now and the end of next summer.

That is it accepted until the summer of 2008. Like once it is fall in 2008 you won't be able to do what ever you want to do. Good luck learning English!

The best way to define it is to think of a tunnel.. you go in one side and out the other.. through summer of 2008 simply means that it has a start and stop point.. summer of 2008 is the end of the tunnel. Hope this helps.

"through" is used as a substitute for "during" in this phrase. It means "Accepted only during summer 2008".

It means until the end of summer of 2008. They had better give a specific date, though, as not everyone would assume they meant the actual astronomical end of summer, the autumnal equinox, which is September 21, or sometimes 20 or 22.

In American English, "through" is a substitute for "to" or "until" in UK English . Whereas we would say: "From June to August" they say"From June through August". English: "pages 3 to 5"; American: "pages 3 through 5". In this sentence, whatever it is is accepted up to or until summer 2008.
