Yes, you will pay the sales tax.

You'll need the assigned title from the seller, the bill of sale, proof of insurance, proof of ID, and proof of TX residency to register the vehicle.

In TX the tax is levied at the higher of the BOS price or the state's estimated value of the vehicle unless the vehicle was purchased from a licensed TX dealer. If it's bought from a TX licensed dealer, the BOS price is used.

NORMALLY WHEN YOU GO TO TRANSFER THE TITLE AND MAKE SURE HE HAS A CLEAR TITLE -- TAXES LICENSE AND ANY OTHER FEE WILL BE APPLIED .. ALSO ONE THE DAY YOU MAKE THE TRANSFER YOU CONTACT YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY TO ADD THE CAR TO YOUR INSURANCE.
