i am 15 ,weigh 130 lbs, and am 5'7. I have been bench pressing for about a 3 weeks and i was wondering if i am doing too much. I max out at 140 and i usually do reps of 105. I do 105 about 80 times when i work out. and then the next day about 50 and then one more day to rest my muscles. Is this too much? I am most concerned about bench pressing stunning my growth? Is this possible?

First of all weight lifting increases the IGF-1 levels in your blood which is growth hormone so stunting your growth is not a concern. Secondly, progressive load by lifting at 60-80% of your one rep max for 8-10 sets per muscle group with 6-10 reps per set is the most effective way to produce muscle hypertrophy aka growth. best of luck.

You can't stunt your height lifting weights. that is a myth. lift as much as you can every time. if you can do 105 then good. If you can go up even better. Here is a plan. For 2 weeks do bench press 8 reps 3 sets. Then After that do 6 reps 3 sets for another 2 weeks. Last do 4 reps another 2 weeks. then start over. Do bench only once or twice a week. Vary up your lifts to work thos muscles.

i posted an artical below. Did you know that jogging and jumping put more force on your joints than weight lifting??

You could be doing alot more, i'm 14, 10 lbs more than you and about your height, and I just maxed at 180 the other day, and I feel I can close in on 200 very soon, however i've been lifting for about 6 months now, so you'll be able to do alot in no time.

Also lifting does not stunt your growth, unless you injure yourself, so lift all you want. Also, at the end of your session, bench 100 reps of a light weight to build stamina and you can add 10+ pounds to your bench.

i was becnhing 250lbs by 15. it took me 2 years to get to that point. at this age your hormones are super high. take advantage off that and work out hard. it will not stunt your grow. 105 is fine just make sure you warm up,use proper form and a spotter. do not do less than 12 reps, if the weight is too much drop the weight a little.
