No, there are no testable hypotheses behind the idea of "Intelligent Design" - it is merely a pseudo-scientific attempt to bring a supernatural creator into the field of biology.

At its core, it is identical to saying "wizards did it".

Yes

it's existence as a theory can be proven in the field of sociology. As much as the field of history and sociology can also prove that the flat earth theory lived on for a long time as well, ignoring basic scientific evidence.

Time will solve this debate. I assume not many still believe the earth is flat these days ??

While I don't want to say that anything can never be proven, the obstacles facing Intelligent Design are mammoth! They are gargantuan.
They must not only disprove evolution (Periodic Table of Elements, fossil record, Genetics etc.)
They must disprove astronomy, geology, and basic logic!
Instead of looking for "Can we prove this because we really want it to be true?", most real scientists work on "What does the evidence say?"
The answer to your question is "NO".
If we have to go with the evidence, Periodic Table,Genetics, Astronomy, Geology, Paleontology, Archeology...all of it is connected and none of it backs up Intelligent Design!

It can't be proven, full stop.

And detroit: 119,000 atoms in the universe? Well, I suppose if you think the Earth is 6,000 years old you're not going to be very good with numbers, but come on!

It CAN'T be proven through evolution, or in any way at all.

It's nothing more than a sorry attempt to modernize a dying faith in a myth.

I say good riddance.

It has been disproven (technically, shown to be trivial if it applies) with regards to life sciences. It has not been proven in particle physics.
