I made a really nice card for my step-dad's birthday when I was like 8. The right side sais this-

The smell of a noise, Shhhh... I smell somthing. It smells like a noise. Like a turtle noise. Yes. That's what it is. It is a turtle noise and it is wonderful, because turtles live in shells.

I crack up whenever I read it and don't remember writing it at all.

Could it be from that kid that was in a wheel chair and wrote poetry?

That poem was written by Mattie Stepanek and yes, he was in a wheelchair because he had muscular dystrophy. He passed away a few years ago. That poem was published in Mattie's book, Heartsongs.

That is the stupidest poem I have ever heard. "It smells like a noise"? You have got to be kidding me.

I love it!
You know, what's a good idea would be to collect children's poems like yours, and publish them in a book.

But you felt something when you wrote it. And you feel something now when you read it. Isn't that what poetry is?
