What month did everyone get married, and where did you have it? Also, what is your religion and did that play a part in where and when you were married. (If you aren't married, then when and where would you LIKE to be married?)

I want to get married in October, and depending on the weather I'd like it to be outside, surrounded by all the pretty leaves changing colors. I'm an atheist, and my fiance is religious, but we compromised and I said that we can have a priest at our wedding as long as it's held outside and there's no prayers involved. (Luckily in Denmark people are much more easy with religious stuff.)

I wouldn't recommend my wedding to anyone. I was still trying to please my fundy family. I would recommend you do it exactly like you want. If you think that the priest, or pastor, is going to hijack it, and do things their own way and contrary to your wishes, put your FOOT DOWN and don't let them.

October sounds lovely. It won't be too hot. Make sure you don't forget to save money for a fun honeymoon. That was the best part of my wedding.

I've been married four times, but not once was it a planned thing, with invitations and a big party, or even a little party. Well, the second one took place in a college co-op where we were living (like a dorm, only owned by the students, not the school), and so the co-op threw us a party. But it was done on the quick, as they all were. I guess I've always been afraid he'd change his mind if I gave him time. More realistically, I've never had the money for a real wedding.

The first one was in a justice of the peace's office. The second was in the living room of the co-op mentioned above. The third and fourth were both in judge's chambers, one in San Francisco and one in Flagstaff.

P.S. Lionheart, I do not believe you were married in the 19th century! Over one hundred and six years ago???

I got married in September.. We had the wedding at my sisters home.. Our original plans were to have it in her backyard but those plans blew away 2 weeks before the wedding in a micro burst (mini tornado) along with her fences and back patio.. My brother-in-law rebuilt the patio so it looked good from the inside (don't look at the roof it was just plywood on top).. We moved the ceremony from the backyard to the family-room (it was a tight squeeze but it worked)...

We chose September because my husband graduated college 1 day before the wedding and we were able to do both the same weekend making travel easier for out of town guests...

We chose peach and teal as our colors because my sisters house is done predominantly in those colors with lovely flower arrangements etc. we were able to relocate around to suit our purpose...

We were married by a justice of the peace with no mention of deities and no religious connotations..

We had a BBQ and visited with our guests.. 10.8 years later we still hear people commenting on how lovely it was to have a wedding that was so layed back instead of formal..

I am Atheist, my husband is Agnostic, my family is Mormon, His family is Jehovah's Witness... Religion was like a field of land mines we avoided it..

February 11th of last year. I'm an Atheist, and my wife is Wiccan. Since many in our families are Christian, we decided to have a "moment of prayer or reflection," while having no mention of God in either our vows or our ceremony. This way, our vows would fit us and be honest, while we still showed respect to those in our families who are religious. The pastor who married us was happy to do it this way, and we had no trouble whatsoever with at least that part of our ceremony.

Good luck to the both of you! I hope everything turns out well!

I got married in November and had an evening candlight ceremony at my parents church.
My sister had an outdoor evening wedding in October--it was beautiful. The sun was just setting as they said their vows. We had large white tent/canopies in case the weather was bad, but it was a perfect fall day and all the colorful leaves were beautiful.

We got married in the middle of May in our front yard by my mother's best friend who is a justice of the peace. My brother who is also a JP performed some of the ceremony except for the vows and pronunciation. He did all the preachy God is in your marriage stuff (he is a lay preacher in his Fundie Church). I and my father and other brother (both who stood up for/with me) were agnostic on the way to atheism. My wife is a never practicing (never been in a church except for weddings and funerals) Catholic. The religious stuff didn't bother me as I know my brother meant well with all his heart.

I got married in June and it was an outdoor ceremony. I'm an atheist as well and my husband's a Christian and we also had the same compromise...(no prayers) just the wedding vows.

I got married in August because that was the month that my husbands family could come to America easier (husband is British). At the time I got married I was an eclectic pagan (now atheist) and my husband is Church of England but we got married in a non-denominational protestant church because he wished it for his grandparents sake and I was okay with it since we weren't going to have any bible readings. Instead of bible readings we had passages read from Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

I got married on Feb. 15 valentine's day. I got married in a Kroger store. The store was going to do a fake marriage for Valentine's day and I was getting married so I said I would do it. They provided the bride's dress, the minister, the reception, and a hotel room.

I got married Aug 28, 2004 on my in-laws farm in Michigan. We were married by our minister, who happens to be my husbands best-friend so the ceremony was extremely personalized... Our religion played a huge part since we dedicated ourselves to each other under God.
