Cocoa butter cream, Shea butter cream, olive oil treatment, hot oil treatments. They are all good remedies, only need to be done once a week. Use any of the above, distribute evenly over all of your hair, but not on your roots, wrap your head in a towel, do whatever for an hour, let your body heat warm up your hair and scalp, then wash and condition with regular conditioner. You will see a noticeable difference immediately. Also, see a stylist about how to have your hair cut and styled, that will help you as well.

I have fine blonde hair and have recently went to a different stylist, well she fried and dried it. The person that I am going to now recommended Matrix Biolage (I think I spelled it correctly) along with these little tubes of Intense Conditioner (Biolage also). Its been about a week and I sure feel a huge differance. I tried all the common shampoos and conditioners down the hair isle I can I honestly say this has helped the most. As for mousse or hairspray I am still not sure what to recommend. I am still searching. Garnier left a awful residue on my hair plus it still felt like straw. The only other one that I would recommend that you can buy from any grocery store is Infusium Leave in Conditioner. Hope this helps..

Try a leave-in conditioner or a hair mask specifically for dry hair. Garnier & Aussie both have good ones that are cheap. Neutrogena also has a good moisturizing shampoo, but it's a little more expensive. Herbal Essences also has new 2 in 1 shampoo's that contain shampoo & conditioner that moisturize even more, and would be good for daily use.

Head and shoulders really does work quite well. I use it two to three times a week. Also once (maybe twice) a month I use the hot oil on my hair. You can find it at any drug/grocery store.
You also want to be sure not to overwash your hair. My best hair is "second day hair."
for after you style your hair, try a small amount of Paul Mitchell Gloss drops... they give hair great shine and smoothness. They are like $15 a bottle.. but last a looong time!

If you have curly hair, make sure you DO NOT brush it after it's dry. The only time you should brush curly hair is by fingercombing or using a wide-tooth comb when your hair is damp.
Well, cut down on shampooing and washing. You only need to shampoo 2x a week at the most. You can wash everyday, as long as you use the co-washing method. (You get your hair wet, but only use conditioner)
Also, when you do shampoo, try the CWC technique (Condition, Wash Condition). Here's how you do it...
1. Saturate your hair with a good conditioner and leave on for 10-20 minutes.
2. Put shampoo on your hair with the conditioner still on it.
3. Wash out the shampoo and conditioner.
4. Saturate your hair with more conditioner and leave on for 15-20 minutes.
5. Wash out with warm water.
6. Finish with a cool/cold water rinse.
Also, are you doing any chemical processes to your hair? Perms, relaxers, coloring, etc? If so, you might want to cut down if not stop it completely.
Try using a deep conditioner weekly and if you want, a cholesterol hair treatment. My favorite hair cholesterol is by Silk Elements. You can also choose to do a hot oil treatment once a month. My favorite hot oils are by Lekair and Silk Elements.
When your hair is still damp when you get out of the shower, spray in a leave-in conditioner like Infusium 23 Original Formula Leave-In Conditioner and comb through with a wide-tooth comb. Then if you're multi-racial (like me) or of African descent, you might want to seal even more of the moisture in your hair by putting in a little Avocado Butter or Shea Butter.
Also, make sure that all products you use are salon-quality, Sally's is a good place to go to get good hair products.
Another reason your hair could be poofy is because of what your eating. Make sure you get enough protein, Biotin, Vitamin B, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B6, and Vitamin K. Or you could take a special Hair, Skin, & Nails vitamin along with a multivitamin. Also make sure you drink 8+ glasses of water a day.
One last thing, if your hair is still poofy even after a good month of treating your hair well (following the regimen I listed above) then you might want to use a gel or mousse with good hold and control. I use Tresseme Curl Care Flawless Curls Mousse. Make sure you put it in your hair while your hair is damp, after putting in leave-in conditioner and if you want, the Avocado or Shea butter.
Good luck.

I was having this problem recently and I switched conditioner. My previous conditioner was also for dry hair, but it stopped working for some reason. The new conditioner I'm using now is Trader Joe's Nourish Spa. It's only $2.50, but so far it's working very well. I've been using it about a week now. It's worth trying if you live near a Trader Joe's.

I can tell you...this product really does work! You should go out to your local drugstore and buy Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Shampoo. Also use Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Conditioner. These products make your hair lush, supple, and most importantly, manageable.

Use a quality conditioner, and leave it in a few minutes. Go to a hair salon and have them recommend a product. Hair serums, gels, etc are mostly "reactive" maintenance to your hair. Using a good conditioner is "proactive" Biolage my Matrix are great products. They're a bit pricey, but worth it.

Sounds like you have my out of control, hair. (I highlight it and it is thrashed, but I'm vain so we gotta do what girls gotta do)
Mayo! Go buy a big thing of Mayo and put it on your head. Then put a shower cap or plastic grocery bag on top of it and watch a movie.
All the fat in the mayo plumps up the hair cuticle and fills in the frizzies. Do this once a month.
Finally, before you style your hair, put a little conditioner in your hand. (like a quarter size) and dry.
