My son just randomly had 2 black eyes appear. They arent real dark, kind of a reddish purple underneath both eyes. Theres no swelling, he says it doesnt hurt, and he didnt hurt himself. When i asked him what happened he said he itched his eye. Could that be from some kind of allergy? Anyone ever heard of that before? Should i be concerned? Theres an after hours clinic down the road open for another hour and a half, i was thinking of taking him there, but it seems kinda silly to me....just wondering any other parents opinions. And please spare me the call his dr lecture...if i was convinced it was something serious, i wouldnt be sitting here right now, just trying to see if this has happened to anyone before, or theyd heard of anything like this. Thanks!

It probably is just an allergy. Give him some Benadryl. I used to get major seasonal allergies when I was a child. My eyes would swell shut at times. He may have ruptured some blood vessels under his eyes with all the rubbing. The skin underneath there is very fragile.

Sounds like allergies, if goop starts coming out it may be pink eye. My daughter has allergies and her eyes look like that sometimes. You can wait until monday to call the dr.

He might've rubbed his eyes too hard and bruised the soft tissue underneath.

I'd give him some allergy medicine and give him a cool compress to place over his eyes.

My son gets this sometimes as well, and it looks like he's sick or really tired. Usually it's just from rubbing underneath his eyes, like when he's sleepy. I think his skin is just very sensitive, and this is a sensitive area anyway.

my daughter gets this sometimes....here's some of her reasons:
1) allergies
2)overtired
3)double ear infection (this will usually soon follow with major eye gunk)
it's your kid, you know when to take 'em in. just keep an eye out (no pun intended)
