I've been trying to lose weight this summer and when I went on holidays I decided I would be really careful about my diet so I wouldn't gain this time. I cut back to 1200 calories a day for 2 weeks and didn't cheat at all. I ate healthy foods, whole grains, low calorie yogurt, fruit, tuna, only water. I came home and had gained 2 pounds. I was even wakeboarding 2 - 3 times a day and swimming . I'm ready to give up and just be fat for the rest of my life!! I need to lose about 20 pounds, what should I do?

You have to give your body a chance to catch up with you!! If you waited and weighed yourself two weeks after that and continued the same diet you would have seen some results. Also, it's just important HOW you eat as WHAT you eat. Drinking a glass of water immediately upon waking kick starts your metabolism for the day. Also, breakfast is SO important!! Eggs, fruit, whole grain (not whole wheat) toast, or flax seed cereals are all good choices. Make it the biggest meal of the day and you'll see results. Another thing, be careful with "reduced calorie" or "low-fat" food options. Alot of these products are chemically altered/processed foods that actually make you gain weight because your body doesn't know what to do with the toxins they create. Choose foods as close to nature as you can. Keep up with the water! That will help you flush the fat you are burning. Another secret- If you do eat a big meal or something not close to nature, follow it up with a tablespoon of organic Apple cider vinegar. This will help increase the digestion process and the natural occurring "mother of vinegar" actually helps flush fat from your cells. Good luck! You can do it!!

there are a lot of factors that have to be looked into. Did you use the same scale to weigh yourself after the vacation that you used before. There may just have been a variation in the scales. Plus, when you are exercising, you gain muscle mass. This weighs more than fat does.
I always say forget what the scale says. They just tell you numbers. These numbers can vary from day to day, moment by moment. Concentrate on how you feel. Do you feel more energetic? Concentrate on how your clothes fit. Are you seeing that your clothes are fitting better. It takes time to loose weight. Just be proud of yourself because you are following through on your diet and getting the exercise you need. In time you will see the weight coming off.

You have gained muscle. Thats great! With that much exercise, I'd say its likely you can put on 2lbs in such a short period of time. Keep it up, theres nothing wrong with you.

Don't focus on the scale, focus on your health! What you are doing is taking care of your body, and if you keep it up, you will get the results you want. I would throw out the scale if I were you, and don't give up!

you were doing physical activities like swimming & wakeboarding while eating healthy.

I bet you lost fat, and I bet you gained some muscle while you were being so active. Continue with exercise & being active in whatever ways possible & look at your measurements, not your weight. If you gain muscle you will burn more calories when at rest, so having lean muscle mass is a GOOD thing.

Good luck!

dont trust the scale. muscle weighs more than fat. you probablly added gained some muscle. dont trust the scale. get a tape measure. measure your body parts and keep a log. you can also get a pair of fat calipers. these are better ways to check your progress.

if you don't eat enough or eat the right foods, your body goes into starvation mode and hangs on to every calorie it can. use this site to find out how much of each food group you should eat.
