Amen to that. That's what I tried to tell one of those Army of God folks. We're not here to fight anyone, to kill people in the name of Jesus. When Peter went to defend Jesus to keep them from arresting Him Jesus rebuked him and said, "All who live by the sword will die by the sword."

We as human-beings want to believe we are basically good but the reality is we are not. Man's heart is evil and maybe that is because the original sin by Adam moved us way from God's grace but we as people do not have a heart for God. Just look at how we interact we each other, tailgating strangers on the roadway, making sex and racial remarks to people we barely know. In the past their use to be a line that most people wouldn't cross which didn't make us better but it did make life a bit more tolerable, there is no line today and the evil that comes from mankind's heart is awful.

In this instance He is talking about revenge, striking back when someone hits you. In other words when a person can't resist to hit back. It's a double negative kinda. He's saying don't .....Not resist hitting back. But do.......resist hitting back. Instead, turn the other cheek and let them hit you again without fighting back.
A lot of things get turned around in the translation, but the more you read the scriptures within context of the passage, the better you can understand the meaning. And God wants you to get the meaning, not just pick and choose out of context.

In my experience, most people quote that particular passage to justify their own nastiness and abysmal behavior toward Christians. Last time I checked the thesaurus, the term "wimp" and "Christian" weren't synonyms.

Christ wasn't afraid to take on the Pharisees and the hypocrites of His day -- I mean, telling people that they're a "brood of vipers" and a "whitewashed tomb" is not exactly the most flattering description. If someone attacks God, my Savior Jesus Christ, and my fellow Christians, I will have no hesitation about defending them. I try not to be vicious about it, but at the same time, I'm not going to stand back and let someone attack those that I love.

It's possible to put up a good, solid, intelligent defense and not cross the line.

Because they follow Satan, the giver of worldly things, the prince of this world.

For it has been delivered unto me and I give it to whosoever I will, I give it, the devil said unto Jesus and Moses.
Jesus did not want the glory of men or a kingdom on earth as Moses did.

Moses gave you not that bread from heaven.
Moses gave the law but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Moses was deceived by the God of Sin, in the wilderness of Sin.

MATTHEW Ch.5 Ver.20 You do not understand. Alot of what was said in the New Testament was while Jesus was still alive Before He paid for our sins and now we are the righteousness of God through our Lord Jesus Christ. And are under GRACE. And basically it all just shows how bad we really do need Jesus. Praise Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christianity really isn't about the teachings of the christ. Christianity leaves such teachings in the dust in favor of the teachings of Paul. Though according to the OT, Paul would be a 'false prophet'--Deut 13, basically any prophet that says to defy the old laws and follow an OTHER god like paul does with 'jesus' is labeled a 'false prophet' and is to be stoned to death.

IN many ways pauls teachings rely solely on the FAITH, where with the teachings of 'jesus' people actually have to get off their butts and do something....I guess that just makes chrisitians LAZY.
