......... and not be moved by what is written about Jesus? How can one read of His words, His parables, His miracles, His death .......... His love for His disciples and for those torturing Him and not believe that He is who He claimed to be, the Son of the living God, the Savior of the world? These were eye witness accounts even of His miraculous resurection.

And if you say, "Those are just words written 2,000 yrs ago" then doesn't that say something to you that they have survived for 2,000 yrs? That this man changed the world? That even time stops and begins around him? (BC - AD) Could it be that when Atheists say they read the bible that they only read the old testament or parts of it and not one of the most compelling books in the bible?

I mean no insults to anyone. I love you all. It's just hard for me to fathom. All people are welcomed to answer.

Saint Lucifer - I purposely didn't say time changed at Jesus' birth because I know He was born about 3 or 4 BC but ...... BC does stand for "Before Christ"

"But though He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him.

This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke: "LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT? AND TO WHOM HAS THE ARM OF THE LORD BEEN REVEALED?"

For this reason they COULD NOT believe, for Isaiah said again,

"HE HAS BLINDED THEIR EYES AND HE HARDENED THEIR HEART, SO THAT THEY WOULD NOT SEE WITH THEIR EYES AND PERCEIVE WITH THEIR HEART, AND BE CONVERTED AND I HEAL THEM."

First off, the BC to AD is not from Christ birth, he supposedly was born on 4 BC. BC to AD marks the transition from the time of the ram, Aries to the time of the two fish, Pisces.

Not impressed that it survived 2 thousand years, when you consider that bloodshed was used to persuade those to join in the religion for at least 1600 years of it.

The Gospel of John is defintely a mover and a shaker :-) You might be interested in reading a book about John and his writings, a fascinating fiction with John as one of the lead characters. It's titled The Immortal (If he tarries til I come, what is that to ye?)
You can read it free at www.freeread.com. There is also an audio available to download if you prefer. Enjoy! :-D

You hit the nail right on the head. People are only moved by what makes them feel good. If they would just open their hearts and minds to experience what it's like to be in the presence of God. I looked through this section on Religion & Spitituality and outside of you & a few others bravely trying to defend their faith & Savior, all I see is cynicism and questions from those who only want to discriminate just for laughs. Keep on keeping on YummyGood !

I love the Gospel according to John for that very reason. Though the rest of the Gospels were an account of Jesus' life, John was written that we may believe.

there is greater to the previous testomony than basically adam and eve ingesting a apple and inflicting chaos on the earth. i might initiate from the beginning up, because of the fact as they are asserting the recent testomony shows, what the previous testomony Conceals. many times 3 chapters an afternoon gets you for the time of the Bible in one year.

Being moved by, and declaring as universal truth are two different things. I would imagine that many of those, such as myself, who believe the Bible to be a socio-mythic book are very impressed by many of the books. John is beautiful.

The simple things of the bible, that we take for granted, are spiritually discerned from un-believers. We are the sheep and only the sheep can understand their Master's voice.

I love Jesus. I love reading the bible. It's Christians that I can't stand. Especially the ones in my family.

I concur. But then many of those who lived in Jesus' own time rejected him and had him crucified. Jesus says why people refuse to believe.

"This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed." John 3:19,20

People who love sin hate Jesus, and hate Christians.

1 Corinthians 2:13-15 (New King James Version)
New King James Version (NKJV)

13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy[a] Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.
