Why do people have a resolute judge in the courtroom of the mind? Whether they are evil or not? They still have that little voice telling them, "that was wrong."

Thanks for asking an interesting question :)

"There are two impulses in the soul, one from an angel which calls towards good and confirms truth; whoever finds this let him know it is from God and praise Him. Another impulse comes from the enemy which leads to doubt and denies truth and forbids good; whoever finds this, let him seek refuge in God from the accursed devil." (Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him)

Thus you can say that the conscience is your angel calling you to do good. If the voice of conscience is weak then we are in trouble for the voice of the devil will be louder.

The soul is a battlefield - this is the Islamic understanding.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes and peace.

When Adam & Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, man became aware, for the first time , of the difference between good & evil, and right & wrong. Ever since, man has been born with the knowledge of right & wrong built right in, thus, the inner voice, telling us, that was wrong.

Hummmm...could it be what some people call "original sin". Personally, I think that when Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they became aware for the first time of the concepts and consequently accepted responsibility for choosing between them. Its kind of like eating the tree caused a little switch to be flipped and the conscience was turned on!

Perhaps that's why God didn't want them to eat from the tree...not because he didn't want them to have knowledge but because he didn't want them to live with the heavy responsibility of having to choose between good and evil...and he didn't want them to suffer the consequences he knew existed for making the wrong choice!

Your brain. Not magic. Not a spirit. Your brain.

Your brain allows you th think and control your body. Just as your brain creates the image that is based on the incoming sensor data supplied by your sense organs, it posesses a system that creates and sustains your mind, which you use to think and control your body. It isn't a ball of energy. Iy isn't a smurf that lives inside of your head. It's your brain. If it wasn't, you wouldn't lose consiousness for the endless variety of brain related imbalances that can put you under.

I promise you, it's just your brain...... and, yes, I do believe in spirits and life after death. As for the judge.... people usually jusge right and wrong based on what they would say if someone did the same thing to them..... but I doubt that they realize that.

Sadly, none of this really answers MY question.

Muslims believe that every person is born on a natural primordial state that includes the desire to do good, belief in one God and other things. It only later when man decides to change these does his nature become corrupt.

Conscience may be the heart or may the angels encouraging you to do good.

I hope that answers you question

My conscience comes from the Upper Volga area, near the border with China. It is very old school and set in its ways, I'm afraid, and no matter how hard I try, I can't help feeling guilty when I frolick in the fluffin patch. We all have our own crosses to bear.

It comes from your physical brain and is the result of years of sociocultural conditioning where we learn our cultural mores. This is why the "Golden Rule" has existed in just about every cultural group - as it is something that human beings have discovered through process of observation to contribute to increased chance of group survival.

Conscience are the hypothetical scars left on your identity of self by the "belt buckle" of your parent's wisdom. The less scars you have, the more likely you will get arrested for exposing yourself to senior citizens.

Conscience is your human ability to discern the difference between right and wrong - and your inclination to act on the understanding of that difference.
