The unforgiveable sin is to blaspheme (or disrespect) SURE KNOWLEDGE. There is a kind of knowledge given only to very spiritual people (eg prophets)... and this knowledge is more convincing to the soul than any physical proof. That knowledge comes through the Holy Spirit.

I assure you that no-one you know is capable of Blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

It's true that blaspheming the Holy Spirit does cause spiritual death, and that is why it is unforgivable. The person who completely rejects all goodness, completely rejects everything that God stands for, has totally lost the ability to repent... and is therefore unforgivable.

A person cannot ignorantly commit the unforgivable sin.

Balaam's Donkey included.

As for someone who has done this... possibly Judas Iscariot (but possibly not, since he had not received the Holy Spirit)... possibly the Pharisees etc who wanted Jesus dead. Believe me, there are very few in the history of mankind who have committed this sin.

Added: I have, however, read scriptural and historical accounts of people who deceived themselves and others, then admitted their guilt and promptly died. I think they might still be forgiveable, however.

Blasphemy is the one unforgivable sin. As you see on this site and out in the world "blasphemy" is very alive! However you don't instantly die. You become a "dead man / dead woman walking" though as long as you deny Jesus. And when you draw your last breath here on earth you will receive eternal judgment and death in outer darkness with Satan, his demons, and the majority of this world who have willingly sold their souls to hell. How can I say the "majority?" Because God's Word says, " Enter ye in at the strait gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be that go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it ( Matthew 7:13-14).

One should note that its not the christian concept of 'holy spirit' that the text is referring. Since the concepts of Trinity really didn't come around into the formalized doctrine until the 4th century.

381CE First Council of Constantinople drew up a dogmatic statement on the Trinity and defined Holy Spirit as having the same divinity expressed for the Son by the Council of Nicea 56 years earlier.

The text Matt 12:32 its more of the general notion of SPIRIT as defined in the OT idoltry law...Deut 4:15-16 Since you saw no form on the day the the LORD spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire. beware lest you act corruptly by making a graven image for yourselves, in the form of any figure, the likeness of man or female...(the text further denotes basically any form that is earthy based...hehehee which would include "jesus' as an idol.)

Jesus said this sin is unforgivable. So it is certain. This is the sin of denying the prompting of the Holy Spirit that calls to you to know Jesus. To deny Jesus after you had been called to know Him is this sin. So if you died, never accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. You are spiritually dead and will not have eternal life. Not everyone will be able to be in His Kingdom. You cant deny Jesus and expect to go be with Him. You were told the truth already and what did you pick? Did you chose to put yourself as #1 in your life, did you chose other gods? Did you live according to your astrology chart, did you live according to the worlds ways of life ignoring what Jesus asked of you to do? Did you chose to live in sin and immorality because it made you feel good instead of living a clean life according to His righteousness? Our ideas of good without the bible are false...our righteousness is filthy rags to the Lord. You cant make up what God likes and dislikes according to your own thoughts. You cant say....well God will forgive me if I get a divorce and fornicate and get drunk on the weekends....that isnt obedience that is rebellion. When you chose Him over your ownself and needs DAILY then you know youre going the right way. Email me if you want to know more or get some scripture. God bless.

Read what I posted in your last question. The unforgivable sin can only be commited by God's elect, and only when antichrist is on the earth. What is it? It is for God's elect to refuse to allow the Holy Spirit to speak through them, for a witness againt antichrist. God's elect will be delivered up for a witness against antichrist, because he will decieve many so-called christains into beliving that he is the true Christ.

the holy spirit represent the law of God . Jesus said you can blaspheme (speak ill of) the father, repent and you will be forgiven. You can blaspheme the son of God, repent and you will be forgiven. If you blaspheme the holy spirit you are speaking from the heart so it is an unforgivable sin.

Its like if I criticized someone through ignorance or anger I can be forgiven but if I make fun of someone because of their handicap I am showing that I'm evil inside.

I have thought a lot about this and the bible refers to the spirit as the word of God. So I believe that people the speak against the word of God cannot go to heaven.

The unforgiveable sin can only be comitted by someone who is SPIRITUALLY dead; it has nothing to do with PHYSICAL death:

"But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit." (Mark 3:29,30).

The Bible tells us of an unforgivable sin, the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. This subject has been vastly misunderstood over the years. False teachers who claim miracles, dreams and visions will tell you that by denying them one is comitting the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Some have thought it may be a sin or series of sins so grievous that God could never forgive them for it, others claim if you don't recognize you accepted Christ by your own free will you have comitted this sin. These are but a few of the many misconceptions. However if we look at the subject in its setting and proper context we can know what it is. The leaders of the Jewish nation, the Pharisees and priests at the time of Christ's ministry accused Him of performing miracles by the power of satan:

"And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils." (Mark 3:22).

Jesus was well aware that they were thinking this and thoroughly rebuked them:

"And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand." (Mark 3:23-25).

Jesus showed these "know it alls" how there conclusion was nonsense, How could satan cast out satan? Obviously he could not and their theory was foolishness. Christ also gave a practical lesson for ages to come; that being we should be united in our home lives, under the authority of His word. Christ came to bind satan (the strong man):

"And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house." (Mark 3:26,27).

The Lord Jesus Christ is the word (John 1:1,14) that washes the sinner. Satan has been cast out of heaven:

"And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." (Revelation 12:7-11).

The Bible makes it clear that blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is when one accuses Jesus of being demon possessed:

"Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit." (Mark 3:30).

If someone burns a bible, denies God, commits serious sins and/or crimes God may forgive them, only those who are thoroughly convinced that the miracles of Jesus were done by satan have comitted blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Yes I know some people who have done this Karla. And yes they will die, but they aren't going to know of their death until the judgement day. By then it will be far too late for them to do anything worthwhile about it. They will run out of time to recant, or repent, or show themselves faithful for God's grace.
