Yes and yes. A good example of contentment in adverse circumstances would be the Apostle Paul. When I read the horrible things he lived through I weep. And yet, he counted it all joy because he knew the Savior. I can understand in a very small way, as can any Christian; but, not to the degree that he suffered and still he rejoiced in tribulation. I only hope I could be that strong in my faith. I would certainly want to, but until we are actually put to the test, we don;'t know. I don't doubt for a minute my Lord's ability to bring me through.....it's me I doubt.
The worries of this life are temporary. You can usually endure anything if you know somewhere down the road it will end. How you respond to circumstances is of ultimate importance. It may even affect the outcome while here. It definitely affects your life beyond the grave. Whether a Christian or unbeliever, what we do here on earth is written down by God and one day judged. It's the most important report card we'll ever get and will affect how we spend eternity. No second chances.
Good question.

there are various christians who have confidence the earth is incredibly previous. The notice "day" interior the genesis account interprets extra accurately in "time", and the comparable hebrew notice from the oldest manuscripts is extensively utilized in different aspects of the bible to intend time. So the bible is particularly no longer at odds with an previous earth. you particularly won't discover any christians believing in species specially evolving. The fossil checklist would not coach transitional species, yet incredibly coach species appearing unexpectedly, according to introduction by god. There incredibly no reason to inevitably think of that some humaniod like creatures could desire to no longer have existed interior the previous that have been resembling people, yet did no longer have our potential for understanding god, and weren't smart, knowledgable of acceptable and incorrect, and arranged to comprehend god like ourselves. What christians discover to be absolute folly is the theory that creatures as complicated as ourselves could have occurred thoroughly by hazard, and got here actually from no longer something with no author.

Happiness suffers from a lack of definition. It appears to be something like, "constant, satisfied pleasure from fulfillment", as if it were a goal to attain and hang on to. But maintenance is no fun. If you constantly have to work to keep happiness from being taken away from you, that sounds like a contradiction.

Yet some people appear to be happy for no reason, people who fail, sick people, poor people, people in jail. Not all of them, of course, but what do these people know that we don't? Are they mental or are we?

If I understand correctly, the Buddha's insights that enabled him to start his road to transcendence were that suffering exists, it is the result of desire, and the cure for suffering is the extinction of desire. And most mystics of every faith have a bias against material possessions. As they say, what you own starts to own you. You have to maintain it, protect it, keep track of it. Even non-material possessions, like special expertise, political influences or social connections, can also weigh one down.

Most of the things we "need" are really just desires. We know we don't need them but we feel the urge to own and control these objects. This limits our freedom to live, as we are distracted by them. The less you can live with, the more vulnerable you may be, but the freer you are to live, move and be yourself. To the one who owns nothing, everything given is a gift, and every gift can be passed on when an opportunity presents itself.

Detachment allows objectivity and the chance to enjoy the present moment rather than worry about the next. Is this "happiness"? It's not very stable, but it is nice. Some prefer the term "joy" to describe unalloyed pleasure in the moment.

Does the conduct of our present life affect our future life? Very possibly. It certainly affects the future of the current life. But does it make sense to worry more about an unknown future life when this one has much more immediate consequences? Perhaps you are thinking of secret misdeeds. Are they so secret? Don't they show in the face, the eyes, the posture of the agent? Better to avoid having things to hide, or to ask forgiveness before it is required. Better still to do things in public, without fear of how others will judge you.

We do what we will do, no matter what the laws, customs or mores. If we are ashamed of our deeds, we should seek help, not a hiding place. And we should not let evil times prevent us from doing good. Accept the consequences of your acts, good or bad, and take delight in what comforts you have here and now, not what you may lack. This is as close to "happiness" as one can aspire. And any "future" lives will take care of themselves.

I am really happy in my life. I have a lovely, loving husband and 4 dogs who I adore (and who adore me - or else!!) I live in a beautiful place. I have friends around me, and family fairly near. I have a good life.
I don't believe in an after-life or a 'next life', so I'm living this one to the full.

A long time ago I would have said no. But I have learned that if you have faith in God you won't have to worry any more, just tell him about your problems and let them go. Being Christian, Everything we do or don't do will impact our future life after death.

I certainly believe that this life impacts eternal life. Yes, one can be happy regardless of their situation when they believe in Jesus (Yeshua).

Best decision I ever made in my life. It is called the "Blessed Hope."

Yes. Happiness is something that you find inside you. It doesn't have anything to do with the outside world.

Who knows if there is another life or not.
