I don't know, but the thought scares me. The AKC standard size for a Shih Tzu is 9 - 16 lbs. People who are breeding these babies smaller than that are causing so many problems! This is a very touchy subject for me, so I will let it go at this.

Well on this puppy mill site I saw a shih tzu, full grown that weighed just over three pounds. Unfortunatly, because she was bred down incorrectly and too quickly using sick, runt dogs her eyes sat on each side of her head and made it unable for her to see. She also was kept really thin by withholding food. Shih tzu's are supposed to weigh 8-10 pounds, and there is no such thing as a miniture. It is a bogus term jerk-breeders use to fool innocent people into buying sick dogs.

There is no such thing as a miniature shih tzu. It is merely a runt which is usually not a good thing. Runts are usually weak, sickly and most of the time do not live past a couple of years. Buy a standard size or one close to it if you want a healthy dog that will live a long time.
