Yes. this does no harm to your computer. All that is changed is that whenever a internet window opens up, it will be "firefox" insted of "internet explorer". If you ever want to reverse it, just open up Internet Explorer and it will ask if you want to change it back to the default browser. Hope this answers your question :)

Safe? yea, it's safe. I don't see any harm.
Everytime you try to browse the web, firefox will be used instead of IE or other browsers. So, if you like using firefox, why not?

Yes. I use Netscape as my default browser personally but there's no reason you can't use Firefox or any browser other than Internet Explorer that way. (I actually have both but I tend to use Netscape more because I started with it.)

Intersting prob...but hopefully an easy fix. Do you know how to add and remove programs? What you need to do is repair Internet Explorer. Go to Start>Control Pannel>Add/Remove Programs. Your looking for Internet explorer. There should be two of them if you keep you system updated. The one you want is the Application itself, not the update. It will be obvious b/c the right one will have a "Repair" button when you click "Remove/Modify." Click that "Repair" button. It will take a few seconds and you will have to restart. This should fix it.

it is more secure.
there are also many effective down loads like noscript and ad blocker - that actually work.
they also have a java download.
it will take a little getting used to in the tools section - it helps if you know someone already using it - or just come on line here and ask questions - i have found it useful to NOT override no-script (one of their downloads.
