It depends on the amount of calories in the cereal, and the fat and calories in the milk that you pour over the cereal.

Here's the current food pyramid information.

Be aware that age, gender, and fitness/activity level play a role in determining recommended daily amounts

Dietary fiber is important for your digestive tract to move food through more efficiently, but eating too much fiber can be detrimental because it can inhibit the absorption of some nutrients.

Breads vary in their daily fiber content. Read the nutritional information on the bread in your store.

The bread in my kitchen at this moment contains 4% of the daily fiber requirement in a one slice serving. I would, therefore, need to eat 25 slices to get the full day's fiber requirement. And take in 1750 calories.

A typical high fiber cereal will provide about 20% of your daily fiber requirement in a 1/2 cup serving with non-fat milk and no sugar. Meeting your fiber requirement with just cereal would take 5 servings or 2-1/2 cups. And would add 1100 calories, more if you add sugar.

Better to get your fiber through fresh fruits and vegetables and some grains.

daily recommended is 24 grams a day....that's a lot of bread (many brands only have 2-3gms.) High fiber cereals are a good choice, as long as you're sure there isn't too much sugar. You might be wise to introduce THAT MUCH fiber to your system gradually. You'll cause MAJOR gastric distress---gas, pain & bloating---if you currently only get a fraction of that in a day now.
