I do!
Gee whiz...the world is already divided enough as it is!
I would think that he (a global church leader) would seek to unite people.
But, NO...he chose to resurrect an obscure, 4-page church document, verbalize the contents (which sounds like a load of religious ignorance), and further separate believers all over the world.
When he cleans up all of the man-boy sexual scandals (and I do mean ALL) within his church, then maybe he can speak to the world with pious, religious authority.
Until that day comes, he might need to keep his mouth shut.
I've seen a foot do many things, but open an otherwise closed mouth ain't one of them!

Which is quite a feat of dexterity, considering where he's already put his head...

Are you talking about where Pope "Eggs" Benedict came out and read a doctrine that the Catholic Church was the only true Christian church?

This is expected. Every religion for a time makes a show of being all nicey-nicey to the other religions, IF they are overseen by modern, secular Western governments. But when push comes to shove they have to say only their religion is the best, otherwise why keep belonging to it? It's the usual brand loyalty, like the Coke vs. Pepsi wars that get all serious, but ultimately you're fighting for some sickly-sweet sugary brown swill! Except for Coke and Pepsi employees, it's not worth anything to anybody else.

NOTHING in religion is real! The scientists worked hard and made real effort to reveal ALL the invisible things there are. X-rays. Planets past Saturn. All that. This new knowledge has consequences, we could USE it to maximize our comfort. Religions by contrast bring no knowledge to mankind, they just argue and speculate and people imagine stuff limited to their OWN HEAD. Other countries with religious backgrounds and strictures stay primitive, we call them the Third World, their society can't improve because they believe that, if there are holy things then there are holy people too, a class structure that's unbreakable and the well-to-do class can rob from the poor with impunity at every turn! Religion is the enemy of democracy, and it causes problems among even our poor as well.

So, nice going, Pope. The only benefit to this is that, if young Catholics from the world over really beleve they are the only correct Christian church, hopefully they'll put metal helmets on and dress up as Crusaders and go fight Islam. Islam needs to be beaten back (again!) Western powers defeated the Ottoman Empire in 1918. At that point, all Muslim necks were under colonial boots. We can do it again, and this time Muslims we're NOT going to release the foot-pressure!

I don't feel he did. A person like him in a place of authority, is very likely will not make everyone happy with whatever he said or does. There is always going to be some who will disagree with whatever he will do or say, case in point.

The World has been divided much longer than you know, and religion has been dividing people for many centuries, it is not the first time, and he is not the only one who does that.

If he was not trying to clean up the so called man-boy sexual scandals! they would all be brushed under the carpet as many are being done in other religions, but you never hear about them. Those cases, as all that might come up, are being coming out, because those people are being brought out and paying for their mistakes. I will not name any religion, but many other religion do moleste, and you will never know about them, and they will continue doing it free as they wish.

Did you know that an Imam in Saudi Arabia declared that the only Muslims are the Sunni, and not the Shias!! He did the same thing the Pope did, but you my dear never noticed, know or maybe just dismissed it! I don't know, but now you know that the Pope is not the only one, as every religion leader will want to tell others that theirs is the right one, and all others are not.

keep an open mind, it will make you see and learn so much more. and while you at it, try not to judge all people by what some of them do.

I do not agree with many things the Pope says. As a gay man, I'm always hearing from him or his spokespeople that gays are intrinsically evil or that gay marriage is destroying marriage and families. None of this resembles in any way the commandment to treat others as you would want to be treated. However, the Pope and his followers do have the right to believe what they want and his comment that his chruch is the only true church is the same comment made in every domination and sect of every religion--they all think they are the only true way to paradise.

Don't blame the Catholics for the Pope. I have some of the most loving, caring and praying Catholic friends. They love the Lord as I do. They haven't been taught to read the Bible for themselves or to spread the gospel to their co-workers and neighbors. The priests are coming around and teaching their congregation better than they did 40 years ago. There are some wonderful priest and of course some bad priests, but the same is true with my protestant pastors. In the USA the Pope doesn't seem to be important in the Catholic churches as if he is too removed. Maybe this is good.

Absolutely! I was raised Catholic, too. I was allowed to take communion when divorced from my first husband, who was both physically and mentally abusive, but married my second husband, also Catholic in the court house and now I am forbidden to partake in communion. Yet his ex-wife who committed adultery in their marriage, and married that guy in the church takes her blessed communion every week! I totally, totally agree with you. I have basically left the church not only for being punished for bettering my life, but because of the church paying millions of dollars to hush the victims of these molestation scandals. Not their money, but churchgoers donations. It makes me sick! Then they not only hide these men, they relocate them so they can do it all over again. We wonder why some Catholics are leaving the church? Unbelievable what this Pope has done.

I liked the previous pope, but this one has not impressed me.

The key point is that popes are NOT infallable, as I was taught as a child, before leaving the Catholic church of my dad's family.

One pope will "correct" the previous one, but foolish believers think they're both infallible.

Only Jesus is perfect. Popes are just men!

he's only reiterating what the catholic church has always said. it's just that the culture has moved on and no longer finds their posturing particularly compelling. how one views this probably depends on whether one is more attached to catholicism or modern culture. personally i think it's good that he's willing to say what he really means. if it turns more people away from catholicism i would not shed a tear.

Jesus promised to meet with and teach the twos and threes and a bad MARK is if one has taken captive two or three thousands to learn error. John in Revelation points us to Circe the holy whore whose grave was in view of John at Patmos Circe ( from where we get the English words "church or circus"; would feed her captives DUNG pancakes mixed with NARCOTICS and they would turn to swine) this IDENTIFIES the Anti-Christian church which re-defines "worship."

They are the LOCUSTS and John promises that they will all go back into hell.

Their task is not hurt those marked by the Word but "chase them away." At the same time they take captive and punish those with the mark of the Beast (Lucifer, Zoe, Pan, panpipes etal). I cannot begin to tell you how great being able to study and read the Holy Bible and the horrors of grasping that what is happening in the confiscated colleges and pulpits, is OF BIBLICAL PROPORTION and so perfectly defined in the Bible that only a blind person could not see it. Not quite graspable by most is the fact that God shows no pity for the BLIND who can be led by the BLIND. Those with Spirit will or have fled Babylon.

When the chief priests, elders and people gathered in masses to merchandise the free water of the Word, Jesus went into the temple and cast out all the merchandisers in the same manner in which one EJECTS DUNG.

And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, - Matthew 21:12 kjv.

Out here is: to cast out, drive out, to send out; with notion of violence; to drive out (cast out); to cast out; of the world, i.e. be deprived of the power and influence he exercises in the world; a thing: excrement from the belly into the sink

Jesus sent his disciples out in two's (cf. Luke 10) to avoid charismatic leaders. People are already "howling" as in Amos 8 for the woes coming upon them and accepting, (like those who followed Jim Jones a single charismatic leader, to their graves,) that KookAid is good for you.

Have you even READ the document? People were writing to the CDF ASKING for clarification about certain aspects of Church teaching. The document was a RESPONSE to people's questions. Do you think the CDF should have just IGNORED people's questions? Or should the CDF have LIED about what the Church teaches?
