The English language of 1662 is outdated, and we have changed so much within the last 400 years.
I think that many churches are not relevant today....
when Jesus was around...you must admit at the birth of Christianity..the availability of the wise man to listen to and help...even in legal matters. The church was at the centre of village/town life. Trading went on within its confines, meals were provided, social gatherings...often impromptu...story tellings, and the availability of the wise man, to help the every day person. Jesus even turned over the table of a money lender...(not a good activity) but it shows how central the church/holy place was. Now the church is for matches, hatches, and dispatches.
About time we went back pre 1662...and looked at how the church was central to peoples lives in the times of Christ.
Perhaps then they would be able to give the homeless food and shelter., rather than the so called middle class, a place to be seen in.
Here's to a huge change in the role of the church!!!!

I think songs and prayers used to be more aimed at teaching doctrine. Bible knowledge gives people stability and I think the Church of England is unstable.

Sorry I read the question wrong. I used to attend a Church of England church ages ago. I am a Christian though and as such a Church member in the body.
