.dat files are data files that can basically be anything. If you want to open a data file, you're going to have to know what program created it in the first place.

Or, if you're looking for a quick fix and want to convert it into a file that WMP or RP recognizes, I suggest that you buy something like Advanced X Video Converted. There's really no other way to figure out how to fix your problem.

Hope this helps!

.dat files can't be movie files. It could be the setting and list and some sort of properties of the movie files. Try opening those dat files in a text editor and see what's in there.

Are those .dat files only files you see ? Go to my computer and right click on your CD drive to browse (Explore) the contents.

What is xine?

xine is a free multimedia player. It plays back CDs, DVDs, and VCDs. It also decodes multimedia files like AVI, MOV, WMV, and MP3 from local disk drives, and displays multimedia streamed over the Internet. It interprets many of the most common multimedia formats available - and some of the most uncommon formats, too.
