"Much confusion and misunderstanding has been caused through the early translators of the Bible persistently rendering the Hebrew Sheol and the Greek Hades and Gehenna by the word hell. The simple transliteration of these words by the translators of the revised editions of the Bible has not sufficed to appreciably clear up this confusion and misconception."—The Encyclopedia Americana (1942), Vol. XIV, p. 81.
Translators have allowed their personal beliefs to color their work instead of being consistent in their rendering of the original-language words. For example: (1) The King James Version rendered she’ohl´ as "hell," "the grave," and "the pit"; hai´des is therein rendered both "hell" and "grave"; ge´en·na is also translated "hell." (2) Today’s English Version transliterates hai´des as "Hades" and also renders it as "hell" and "the world of the dead." But besides rendering "hell" from hai´des it uses that same translation for ge´en·na. (3) The Jerusalem Bible transliterates hai´des six times, but in other passages it translates it as "hell" and as "the underworld." It also translates ge´en·na as "hell," as it does hai´des in two instances. Thus the exact meanings of the original-language words have been obscured.
The soul is not a separate part of a person that survives the death. Your soul is you, and when you die you are a dead soul. Death is like being asleep, except that you don't have any dreams. The hope for the dead is that they will be remembered by God as one of those who will be resurrected, or created from God's memory . If you want an explanation in detail from the Bible and to know what the Bible teaches about the soul. and the condition of the dead I have detailed messages at this link:

I believe it is a metaphor to help the sinner understand the torture that they believe awaits them in hell. Ghosts and Souls may not burn, but I'm certain that a soul can break.

Have you ever seen the wave of heat from the road or your grill? What is that wave? Heat only! Our souls are pure energy. Mostly we escape our earthy body's as heat. THE energy within us all. This is what I have been taught. You will not hear this I will get censored Again. Just my idea. Heat rises right! What has been created cannot be destroyed. That's our own scientist saying this. Check it out its true. In explaining things I want to back it up. This is what I think I give a analogy.

christians don't say sinners will burn in hell(christians sin too). Unrepented sinners who don't believe in christ will burn in hell. We believe everyone's soul will live forever somewhere either in Heaven or hell. A soul may not "burn" like you think of it burning on earth but it's an eternity of eternal damnation.

Fire is used symbolically in the New Testament for judgment. The fire of hell is simply a way of saying that those there have been judged. There is no actual fire. The torment of hell is the same as the torments of earth - sadness, regret, envy, hate, etc. That's bad enough I suspect. Fire doesn't need to be tossed in.

We will be flesh and bone, no blood. The spirit will join the body , that is formed to last for eternity after the judgment. The body will live forever in heaven or hell.

Jesus Christ preached about Hell more than anyone else in the NT. It is a real place where the non-elect will spend eternity separated from God in unimaginable torment and agony.

Its an euphemism showing that we will suffer like hell... ;)
Well, if what I have lived on Earth is closed to the Paradise, then I really don`t want to see what look like hell... ;)
