does it usually shed?

cats shed sometimes they are shedding coats they get different coats for different seasons....if there is a rash on the skin underneath it might have some kind of dermis irration or infection-would see a vet if this isn't normal

OH, did you move or something new enter the picture? could be stress shedding....

Unless you find actual bald spots on the cat's body, shedding is normal. This is high summer right now and most cats are in their summer shed. They do a winter one too, but it's not so heavy usually. Get what's called a pin brush (flat head with lots of little metal bent prongs on it) and brush him, it'll cut down on a LOT of the loose fur andkeep the furniture cleaner. If you can find one of those 'Miracle Brushes' get one of those for the furniture and your clothes too.

I kept a zip lock baggie of all the fur I brushed off our five cats for a year, thinking I'd send it to someone who hand spins fibers. This was just the fur I brushed off the cats, not what I got from the furniture or anywhere else. Wow, it pretty well filled the gallon size baggie, and by the second year I couldn't get it closed anymore it was so packed, no matter how much I compacted the thing down. Not enough to make yarn for a pair of gloves, but a really respectable amount!

Shedding is normal.

If you're talking about patches of bare skin showing up suddenly--has your cat had any vaccinations or injections lately? I've had that happen with one of mine where he was actually having an allergic response and lost a palm sized section of fur on his belly. That happened within an hour of his getting a vaccination, we turned around and went right back to the vets so they could check it over.

One of the others picked up ringworm outside, not sure from what, but his bare spot was about 2" x 2" large on his side. It took a good month to get that cleared up with a cream. But I remember it fell out almost all at the same time.

Well, if your cat is sheding all over then it's probably normal, but if it's so excessive that you feel that if you move an inch then your going to turn into your cats hairball then you probably need to take him to the vet. Or if you don't want the cat to shed all over and get hair on your carpet, bed, clothes, etc. then you may want to consider going to the vet and sometimes they have a way to stop all the sheding. If you do take your cat to the vet then you may be able to catch up on his vaccinations. You may still want to consider going to the vet even if you don't mind the hair because sometimes excessive hair loss can mean that your cat may have a problem such as ringworm, and other things like that. Hope that that helps you out.

Could be normal shedding. Have you taken her/him to the vet to be checked out? One of the causes of shedding could be worms, but a vet should find that if it is the case. Some of the things you can do to help is to feed a high quality food and brush the cat daily if it is just normal shedding. My cats have always shed more as they aged. And I have never noticed my cats shedding for the first twelve months.

Cats usually shed all over. We have a barely-year old kitten, and every rooms floor is covered with fur. If it is excessive, take your cat to the vet.

ok,its the summer.it gets hot,and they are hot as well so they shed.dont be scared. if there is a lot of hair, get a comb that gets all of the fur and just continually brush her.it will also give yall a better relashionship.for example:in the winter,we wear layers.(7or 8 for example)so its like them wearing 7 or 8 layers.when summer comes,we decrease that to 1 layer.so they shed a lot until it becomes comfortable enough for them to manage.

Its ok. It happens with cats and dogs alike. If it's really concerning you then go to the vet.
